Re: BBCode to Link, swapping spaces for hyphens

The Keywords plugin is used to find text without markup but if the name of the spell is used in a BBCode you don't need it.

Re: smilies&colon codes

It doesn't take much boilerplate to modify BBCodes and smilies in an extension. You could download this extension , replace every occurrence of "s9e" with "rray" and every "absolute" with "emoji" then replace those lines with this: $event['configurator']->tags['EMOJI']->template = '<span style="font...

Re: BBCode to Link, swapping spaces for hyphens

There are at least two ways to do that: one that I recommend but that requires an extension, and one that doesn't. Create a BBCode as [spell id={TEXT1;useContent}]{TEXT2}[/spell] , create an extension that listens to core.text_formatter_s9e_configure_after and use a tag filter that normalizes the co...

Re: Why doesn't phpBB follow some trends like its competitors?

Why doesn't phpBB keep up with website trends like the main forum scripts and content management systems (CMS) do? :( Because it's a software developed by volunteers and none of the volunteers care enough about those features to add them. Both friendly URLs and a WYSIWYG editor could be added via a...

Re: smilies&colon codes

Agree that getting JoshyPHP's input would be definitive in how easily or how difficult it might be to disable just the twemoji use, without interfering with the Unicode character storage and display or the smilies translation. Easy enough for a developer but none of that matters because as you poin...

Search indexes are big because they're lossless and they provide instant access to any record. Video codecs are lossy and can only seek to certain frames.

FWIW, the MySQL FULLTEXT back end takes less space because it uses specialized data structures.

Can you answer the question and not criticize the question.
The answer to the question "Is there a way to stop guests?" is yes, by creating an extension that prevents the view counter from being updated when the current user is a guest.

Re: Error message

I see at least 3 different issues in this topic: phpBB 3.2.2 is outdated. Update it now before doing anything else. If you have hundreds of anonymous users from the same IP range, you should look into what they're doing. If their user-agent shows they're a bot, then create a bot entry for it. If the...

Re: IMG BBCode not working

We have just launched a forum and for some reason, the [IMG] BBcode will not display images. It just simply displays as the raw BBCode. Clear your cache, then look inside the cache directory and send me any file that has "s9e_" in the name. There should be like 3 of them, give or take. I'll look in...

Re: Posts waiting for approval should be visible to the authors

I'm concerned by the creeping complexity of item visibility in SQL queries. Could it be better to display unapproved posts and topics on the same page but outside of the normal reading flow? For example, in viewforum.php you'd have another list of topics above announcements with a header such as "Yo...

Re: showing full url in posts

Yes, if that's an installation that predates the fix then it's likely to be the same issue and upgrading to 3.2.8 would fix it.

Re: showing full url in posts

You need a phpBB extension written in PHP that uses an API to modify how links are displayed in HTML.
