Re: How to calculate the database size taken by discussion threads or subforums?

Yeah, so many types of links that can't be shared... You'll have community only boards, adult boards, fantasy-sharing boards, fanfic boards, piracy boards, embarrassing questions boards, and god knows what else. As I'm hosting stuff for me and for a few people, when I ask for support on forums, I do...

It's not possible to bulk delete posts containing a keyword, right?

Hello hello! I had that idea five minutes ago, however apparently, my google searches show me that's not a thing. Could I please ask you for a confirmation, that there indeed is no way that could be done with a PhpBB forum, to: -> delete every post containing a precise string of text (call it a keyw...

Re: How to calculate the database size taken by discussion threads or subforums?

About that, I really apologize for the complication, but I don't think I can share the forum's URL. Not my own (I have spare server space and resources to offer, but, still, not mine to share). I know, it doesn't help, but I gotta deal with it :D Ah well, at worst, I'll let that forum like that, eve...

Re: How to calculate the database size taken by discussion threads or subforums?

Thank you for your replies :) I quote-reply in the order the replies were made. I imagine there must be a thread or a subforum receiving tons of updates of the spammy kind How could that happen without your knowledge? Basically, I'm hosting it for a community of friends, I'm not caring about it as i...

How to calculate the database size taken by discussion threads or subforums?

Hello! Long story short, I would like to ask you guys if there is a way to calculate (with phpmyadmin or shell command line tools: bash or sql) how much database size is taken in the database - by each subforum - by each discussion thread (if that is doable, or course, only caring about the larger o...

Re: Help, can I transition my forum back from heavily modded to vanilla PhpBB?

1 - delete all but .htaccess and index.htm from your cache folder. 2 - Have a look here: http://3di.space/32/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9 .. a new founder/admin is provided for you to use and see.. there is a version for 3.0.x and one for 3.1.x. Hey, nice tool! I may use that, as one of the "broken" featu...

Re: Help, can I transition my forum back from heavily modded to vanilla PhpBB?

In fact, that's not your case. 11 - delete all of your folders/files except for config.php, images/, files/ and store/ That reminds me of the wordpress support forums where I'd eventually recommend to delete everything save the wp-upload and wp-config folders, huhu. Just to report that I am very th...

Did I figure the correct way to to mass empty a subforum with PhpMyAdmin, please?

Hello! I want to slim down a phpBB database, this is one of the required steps in my larger project to repair a broken phpBB 3.0.14 forum. But, the forum being broken, I am *also* not able to use the administration CP to prune the one largest subforum: the Recycle Bin. At this point, I'm going to pu...

Re: Special characters failing to load, replaced by generic rectangle symbols

I have seen that , but I believe that if you download the style and install it you won't see those, you will see the proper graphics. I think it is a glitch in the style demo. robert Your answer convinced me to install a 3.1 version in a test folder, to check for myself, and, yes, you were right, w...

[SOLVED] Special characters failing to load, replaced by generic rectangle symbols

Hello, I'm looking into adopting a theme once my old board upgrades to phpBB 3.1/3.2, however I noticed an odd issue while browsing the official themes for PhpBB 3.1. In some themes, some symbols are replaced by generic tiles. An image is better than a thousand words: In Firefox z1 firefox.jpg In Ch...

Re: Help, can I transition my forum back from heavily modded to vanilla PhpBB?

however, before you upgrade to 3.1 you still need to remove all the old MODs from your 3.0 database. you do that by installing the STK as mentioned above. run the database cleaner. BACKUP EVERYTHING FIRST once you have done that, test your 3.0 board to see if there are any errors based on old MODs....

Re: Help, can I transition my forum back from heavily modded to vanilla PhpBB?

Then it will be like that, 3.0.14 half-broken -> 3.1 -> Rhea.

Thank you dearly for your help :)

Re: Help, can I transition my forum back from heavily modded to vanilla PhpBB?

Thanks David, it's quite reassuring. I hope I won't abuse your kindness, if I ask about PhpBB3.1/3.2? If I am to go back to a vanilla PhpBB, I may as well go for the 3.1 branch, or even better, the upcoming 3.2, that would be a fresh base. In that case, am I right to believe the proper order is to (...

Help, can I transition my forum back from heavily modded to vanilla PhpBB?

Hello, Long story short, my 3.0.14 PhpBB forum is half broken because it relies on multiple mods, several of them have stopped being compatible at some point. The visitors' side is OK, but the admin side isn't, several parts of the admin are broken, get me logged off and relogged into a white page u...
