Re: Daily user post limit

If bringing a 2017 topic back from the dead isn't too weird, I would also tend to believe this would be a useful feature. The context I have in mind: a board in which I am a helper was struck several times by smartly configured bots that shared with us their love for pornography *cough* I say "smart...

Re: Can't login to ACP, strange ASCII soup instead

Maybe you need to check you server configuration for any redirects or other special handling of adm or adm/ or /adm We've seen issues with "security software" blocking access to those folders in other cases, usually sending a "forbidden" http response, but maybe in your case sending other content ....

Re: Can't login to ACP, strange ASCII soup instead

Did you try to view the page source or used your browser's development tools for the pages in question? Maybe there are additional hints like a strange javascript running before the html output Oh, I would have never thought of that, thank you! At first both console and network (Firefox) returned n...

Re: Can't login to ACP, strange ASCII soup instead

No good deed goes unpunished. Be sure and multiply your $0 friends and family fee by 2x or 3x in response to this kind of nonsense. The worst thing is you're paid in exposure. That's something I teach my sons, to NEVER show you can fix computers. In my case, I'm paid in beer and white wine, I can d...

Re: Can't login to ACP, strange ASCII soup instead

Did you already try to upload the acp folder again? Sure did. I have upgraded the board from 3.0 to 3.1 even before I knew there was an issue with the ACP, and that implied deleting all the files save /images /store /files , and replacing them with brand new versions. Eventually, I also tested with...

Can't login to ACP, strange ASCII soup instead

Hello, Long story short, logging into a phpbb board's ACP only gives an almost blank page, filled with weird ASCII characters. I ran out of ideas, so I'm humbly coming here to ask for help, ideas or suggestions :) screenshot-recompressed.jpg I was giving a hand to friends in upgrading a forum, from ...

Re: Does the database upgrade (from 3.0 to 3.1 and 3.2) touch phpbb3_posts?

Well, that was a messy discussion going in all kinds of places because of my tendency to err, and yet you guys were kind enough to help. The database upgrade has finally completed, 15 hours in total, THANK YOU ! Really, EA117, Paul, 3DI, I'm grateful :) I learnt a lot of things here, hopefully they'...

Re: Does the database upgrade (from 3.0 to 3.1 and 3.2) touch phpbb3_posts?

"php ./bin/phpbbcli.php db:migrate --safe-mode"... Unfortunately, it's the same, there is no verbose mode available bin/phpbbcli.php db:migrate --safe-mode -vvv ;) https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/480857/66171202-9c3fbc80-e647-11e9-99be-ad954f13893a.png Edited: THANK YOU! Re: Does the database upgrade (from 3.0 to 3.1 and 3.2) touch phpbb3_posts?

For a board with 400.000 posts it could take ~10-20 hours, the culprits are \migration\data\v310\softdelete_p1.php \migration\data\v310\softdelete_p2.php \migration\data\v320\default_data_type_ids.php You can BTW truncate the search tables (which are about the 30/35% of the DB's size), you will hav...

Re: Does the database upgrade (from 3.0 to 3.1 and 3.2) touch phpbb3_posts?

About that drill: it's just talking from personal experience with various scripts used at my past jobs that would process a lot of database stuff, and we'd hit the timeout before it was finished, a process in which we'd hit F5, and again with every new timeout, until we'd have a "finished" window. I...

SOLVED | Does the database upgrade (from 3.0 to 3.1 and 3.2) touch phpbb3_posts?

Hello! ** UPDATE : case closed, don't bother reading unless you're facing the same problems and you seek a solution ;) Long story short: yep, phpbb3_posts must be updated too, no way around it even if you have a giant database. The solution is to run it inside a terminal. If the conversion risks to ...

Re: How to calculate the database size taken by discussion threads or subforums?

Yeah, so many types of links that can't be shared... You'll have community only boards, adult boards, fantasy-sharing boards, fanfic boards, piracy boards, embarrassing questions boards, and god knows what else. As I'm hosting stuff for me and for a few people, when I ask for support on forums, I do...

It's not possible to bulk delete posts containing a keyword, right?

Hello hello! I had that idea five minutes ago, however apparently, my google searches show me that's not a thing. Could I please ask you for a confirmation, that there indeed is no way that could be done with a PhpBB forum, to: -> delete every post containing a precise string of text (call it a keyw...

Re: How to calculate the database size taken by discussion threads or subforums?

About that, I really apologize for the complication, but I don't think I can share the forum's URL. Not my own (I have spare server space and resources to offer, but, still, not mine to share). I know, it doesn't help, but I gotta deal with it :D Ah well, at worst, I'll let that forum like that, eve...

Re: How to calculate the database size taken by discussion threads or subforums?

Thank you for your replies :) I quote-reply in the order the replies were made. I imagine there must be a thread or a subforum receiving tons of updates of the spammy kind How could that happen without your knowledge? Basically, I'm hosting it for a community of friends, I'm not caring about it as i...
