Error at database upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1

I try to convert our current PHPBB 3.0 board to 3.1. I've hired an extra VPS to do the conversion, so I can fool around what I want. Steps taken so far: - backup of the postgresql database to new server - installed a fresh phpbb 3.1 instance on the server - used the old config.php, altered for the c...

Re: Upgrading 3.0.x to 3.1.x and custom code.

Does this extension mechanism mean that instead of making minor changes to the core files I'll have to learn how to write complete mods? In principle yes - but it is your site and you can do whatever you want with it. However you should bear in mind that whenever there is an update you may have to ...

Re: Upgrading 3.0.x to 3.1.x and custom code.

anyone know a trick to find out which files are non-standard? Use a diff utility to compare your files with a standard set: https://download.phpbb.com/pub/release/3.0/ Depending on what your file changes were it may be possible to reapply them to the upgraded board. However, changing core files is ...

Upgrading 3.0.x to 3.1.x and custom code.

I run a phpbb board on version 3.0.12. The board has some custom code, which I wouldn't like to lose. I could update to 3.0.14 (if I could find the download), but ultimately 3.1.x is better of course. How do I upgrade without losing my custom code? Furthermore, the PostgreSQL database has grown by n...

Re: "This board has no forums"

I couldn't get to the ACP to begin with. The board itself rendered properly, but the ACP gave this error. I decided to delete all files in the cache directory manually and that did the trick.

Everything works as it's suposed to work again.

"This board has no forums"

When any of our administrators try to access the ACP, we get a black on white text saying: This board has no forums.

What could have gone wrong?

How do I install a mod?

I feel really stupid here. I downloaded a mod ( advanced last topic titles) and I have no idea what to do with it. When I unpack the zip file it looks like in the attached screenshot. I have no idea whether I should run some script or park it somewhere on the server. What must you do to get a mod in...

That one is abysmally slow. It results in a server error/ time out every time I touch it. If I can change it in the database directly, that'll be fine too.

Re: All usernames are in lower case

How come your statistics say this? Statistics Total posts 22 • Total topics 4 • Total members 1 • Our newest member phpbb This is obviously not a fresh install of 3.0.9 when you have posts going back to 2006. As an aside, do you know where these statistics are stored? Total post runs into several m...

Re: All usernames are in lower case

Thanks!

Although that still doesn't explain why the user name next to individual posts is also displayed in lower case.

Re: All usernames are in lower case

The data comes from the old WowBB board. But the source install of phpbb3 is fresh.

The username in the phpbb_users table is mixed case, the username_clean is naturally in lower case. My question is why are the user names displayed in lower case?
