Re: Password Hash Changing Automatically

I feel I'm getting too old for this.

I THOUGHT I found the answer to all of my problems. Only to find that the post was by ME the last time I updated my website.

Re: Password Hash Changing Automatically

It all makes sense now that I've had time to think it over. I just made a major update to my site and brought all of the registration and authentication over to the .NET side. The old site had it the other way around. I've been able to reduce SPAM to ZERO using .NET. This is a bummer. Thanks for the...

Re: Password Hash Changing Automatically

It's not a bug, phpBB has a cron task that updates password hashes to use a more secure algorithm, You should update your application to use a newer password hashing algorithm instead, $2y$ is for blowfish (bcrypt). https://github.com/phpbb/phpbb/blob/3.2.x/phpBB/phpbb/cron/task/core/update_hashes....

Password Hash Changing Automatically

I can't find a better place to post this... I'm using a 3rd party class to allow logging in and account creation from my ASP.NET website. All is well, except for a strange bug that happens on occasion and I can't explain it. I know what my password is... and for any number of reasons I will get logg...

Re: Can't Stay Logged In

I'm beginning to wonder if the Session Length might have something to do with it? The user guide states that it must be 60 or larger. Mine is 3600. Any reason it couldn't be 2,500,000 or the equivalent of a month? Is the Remember Me/Autologin option supposed to log you back in regardless of session ...

Re: C# Authentication Port (port of phpbb_hash)?

Note: This solved the problem of being able to compare hashes but more updates to the class will/would be needed if you're creating your own hashes for passwords outside of your forum. Should be relatively easy with CryptSharp to add this functionality to the class.

Re: C# Authentication Port (port of phpbb_hash)?

This was actually a LOT easier than I thought it would be once I figured out what kind of hashing 3.1.x was using. If you're using the aforementioned class for logging phpBB based users into your .NET website you can do this: Install CryptSharp into the project you have the phpBBCryptoServiceProvide...

C# Authentication Port (port of phpbb_hash)?

I've just finished a complete rewrite of my website. It's a a .NET MVC site with completely integrated security with phpbb. The last step was to get my forum (a test copy) upgraded from 3.0.10 to 3.1.9. I went through all the steps from a fresh 3.0.10 install all the way to 3.1.9. Logged in and was ...

Re: 3.0.10 MSSQL Backup Problem

Not sure that I have any extensions installed, fairly sure I don't. I will import to 3.0.10 and upgrade from there. As for the config, I was able to swap out an updated one and found that the backups started working after switching to ODBC. However, when selecting data only and selecting all tables ...

Re: 3.0.10 MSSQL Backup Problem

I've been trying to work this out on my own today and have made progress. I installed a new forum, same version 3.0.10. I selected Native MSSQL which is what my production system is using. After a successful install, I used the SQL Enterprise manager to import the phpbb_users table data from my prod...

Re: phpBB3 Session Lifecycle

Quite right. I hadn't thought about it that way. I'm trying to implement a session system to match the phpBB one so that users can go from the forum to the site to the forum seamlessly. Activity in the site would extend the session the same way that activity in the forum extends the session time. If...
