Re: Thread Summary

I do have another question related to this. If I install this extension and then modify it so that it is "Topic Summary" ;) what happens when I upgrade the forum software? The last time I upgraded I had to remove all mods (I'm sure there's a difference between a mod and an extension? 8-) ). Under su...

Re: Thread Summary

Indeed! Most of the topics on our discussion board have threads that disappear off into the obscure, which is actually rather important because it helps bring in some humour and quite often the off-topic thread is more entertaining to read. And yes I can see now that something like the facebook disc...

Re: Thread Summary

for the simple reason that phpBB is not a threaded forum - it uses topics
It must be a language thing, warmweer! It's a discussion thread.

Cheers, Paul

Edit: you're right! Thanks for the correction 8-)

Thread Summary

Hi guys, I don't think this currently exists. To give you a quick background I run a fly fishing site where we often research flycasting physics. After sometimes hundreds of pages of discussions there occasionally is some new understanding. A solution if you like. For the people involved in the disc...

Re: Why forum over Facebook?

I've been running a fly fishing/casting forum for over 20 years. Facebook has been a huge killer of my forum at least. Groups of people who first met via the forum are now conversing on FB. I am very much looking forward to the day that FB dies :D :D The privacy is appalling - I read that they even ...

Re: Member wishes for all his posts deleting ?

I just noticed this discussion - I think it's a problem that we all experience at some point. The first time it occurred I had a poster delete all of his posts as far back as he could edit - it was set for something like 24hrs. My problem then was that, when tried to understand what happened, I had ...

Re: Resizing the display of avatars in prosilver

Brilliant thank you! I had to adjust .postprofile .avatar as well... .postprofile .avatar { display: block; float: left; max-width: 90px; } .postprofile .avatar img { display: block; height: auto !important; max-width: 90px; } A batch resize of images in the folder would work too! Many thanks, Paul

Resizing the display of avatars in prosilver

Hi, I'm sorry if this has been covered but I couldn't find it. I've revived an old discussion board that was ikonboard, converted to phpbb2 and is now phpbb3.2. I had quite a bit of help from vHiker - thank you very much!! Everything is working as it should, all apart from the display of the avatars...

Re: Are there any "non-responsive" styles fpr 3.2.x

what I would do is create a copy of whatever style you are using and rename it and make that edit to that style.
then install that style on the board and allow your users that don't want responsive to use that style instead of the responsive version of it.
This worked great - thank you.

Re: phpBB mobile app

I think that this is the most significant advancement we could have as forum administrators. I’ve watched traffic particularly over the past 6 years migrate to FB. Same people discussing who met through my board but now using a different medium. Push notifications bring them back. The app could simp...

Re: phpBB mobile app

Apps that live on your phone will bring you back through notifications. It is the same as the notifications we have here. It creates more engagement. It's a good part of the reason why Farcebook has taken over in my opinion I agree. Having a notification on your phone that there is a new topic or t...

Converting and importing old ikonboard database

Hi folks, I run a discussion board using phpBB and very good it is too. I converted from ikonboard after they stopped having upgrades. Actually that's not entirely true, I started a new Board because I was put off exporting the ikonboard database because it is HUGE! And instead I use it as an archiv...
