Re: Link text as title instead of as url

I meant once phpBB posts reside in another forum (of the same board) they may inherite restricted access permissions, as the target forum is not visible or readable to everyone. However, with your request, its post subject will still live on and as such bypass information disclosure. Or vice versa:...

Re: Link text as title instead of as url

There's a difference between posting a URI and posting a link: the former is plain text which can't be clicked, the latter is clickable. That's what the posting option " Do not automatically parse URLs " is for: by default it recognizes URIs and automatically encloses them in URL BBCode without giv...

Re: Notify user when his/her name is used in a post.

The only time you are assured of knowing who you are quoting is at the time the quote button is clicked. If you wait until the reply is submitted, the replier could have removed the quote, or changed the name in the quote tag. If that happens, you would not know who you are trying to notify. Same t...

Re: Notify user when his/her name is used in a post.

Well, people were saying that it would be a huge performance hit so I just gave an idea to make it happen without the performance hit.

Why don't you try to give an idea then ?

Re: Subscribe without receiving email notifications

Arty: Thanks, bookmarks option does work and I'm using it now, although it's a bit weird/confusing that the bookmarks have to be used to subscribe. AmigoJack: The Idea could be whatever you think is better, either you choose a general option to decide how you wanna be notified for all your subscript...

Re: Link text as title instead of as url

We should be making users life easier not more complicated.

Trying to teach bbcode to everybody doesn't make any sense when it's so simple to include this into phpbb code.

Re: Notify user when his/her name is used in a post.

1. Obviously you notify after submission.
2,3,4. If you are so worried about the poster removing the quote, you can just check if it's still there.

Re: Link text as title instead of as url

In reply to your post: 1. I don't think it's very usual to change the topic's subject. If I have to choose between having 90% of the text of my links correct or having no text at all I would definitely choose to have the text on most of the links. Also what happens if you make a link and then the po...

Re: Notify user when his/her name is used in a post.

This topis is not mine, I just think it's a good idea.

As I said before you can recognize usernames when the user hits the quote button so that should be pretty simple as phppbb already has the username which is used to fill the quote tag.

Re: Notify user when his/her name is used in a post.

If the quoted user had wanted to be notified, they would subscribe to that topic. This can already be done. Well somebody may not be interested in all the updates from a thread but if he has participated with a post, he might be interested to know that somebody has quoted him and/or talked directly...

Subscribe without receiving email notifications

Hi there, When you check a forum very often you don't really need many emails in your inbox with all the subscriptions so it would be great to have an option to subscribe to all the threads you want without getting email notifications. Then you would be able to check all the subscriptions directly f...

Link text as title instead of as url

Hi there, When you put a link to a thread/post in the forum the text of the link appears like: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=403 It would be great if instead the text would be taken from the title of the thread/post as it would be much more explanatory of what you are linking. BTW it's nice this idea forum. ...

Re: +1, Like, or something similar

I also agree with Arty. It could be a like button or a thanks button. This is useful for instance just to say that you liked a post (ex.: a post explaining how to do something). It's like saying thank you but just in one click. Then if you wanna say something else you just reply to the thread. +1 fo...

Re: Notify user when his/her name is used in a post.

You could just make a notification when the quote button is hit. Then you just notify the person who wrote the message that is being quoted.

Cheers :)

Allow users to edit the first post from their topics

Hi there, I needed to do this and so I wanted to share it in case it's usefull for somebody else. Two files have to be modified in order to allow a user to edit the first message of all their topics regardless the edit time set in the configuration. This information is for version 3.0.8: viewtopic.p...
