Re: phpBB is dead

If I replace this with "rating" then a lot of it makes more sense. A couple of bulletin boards do this indirectly by installing/using a karma extension, so members are rated, not single posts. No. While I agree that adding a richtext editor is an endless story here I have to tell you: it's not as e...

Re: phpBB is dead

Forums that use the phpBB forum setup where you have to quote everything and there is no comment threading, are complicated for both the users and management of the forum. Twitter people like because it is fast but it doesn't really have any useful threading. Any threading that is done currently is ...

Re: Ghost account creation?

Yep. Getting members is by far the hardest thing to do when getting a site going. Those two links explain how to go about it. Creating lots of fake accounts won't make people join up though. You can make one or two and use those to pretend to get conversations going but ultimately you need real peo...

Re: Ghost account creation?

Sit and register a load. Or turn off your antispam control. The spambots will make 50 a day. It won't help you get members. People join because of content, not because you have 500 members. Read this http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=362219 and this http://www.phpbb.com/community/v...

It will have access to the admin panel but won't show up as an admin on the team page.
That's not what I am getting at. I want a list of puppet accounts in order to make the site look like it is being used so that we get over the initial starting phase.

Yup. It would be nice that I could just type in a new account name at the time of posting honestly if I was logged in as admin

Re: Offical phpbb.com mobile app

What you're asking for is phpBB create an app for every single phpBB board out there. That's impossible! I am not asking this. Look at tapatalk. It does what I am requesting. The only reason I feel it important for phpbb to do a version all on it's own as a plug and play mod is because tapatalk and...

Re: Offical phpbb.com mobile app

People are picky and like that feature Maybe, but I don't see what's wrong with a mobile style. Contrary to what Apple says, there doesn't need to be an app for everything. Plus, this would require our developers to learn iOS, Andriod, Windows Phone, and BlackBerry - taking away more time fr...

Re: Offical phpbb.com mobile app

With forums it would be nice to be alerted when you get a new pm, a new topic is opened up in a forum you subscribe to, a new post is added to a thread you are watching, etc. You can already do this (without the need for some app). Set your notify settings in the UCP to notify on PMs. Then for each...

[Resolved] How do I add javascript to my footer of my forum?

I have a chunk of javascript I need to put in my forum but I don't know how. They also say it needs to go in the footer. Solution: Put the code in the overall_footer of the theme I wanted to use right before the </body> tag, then clear board cache. Worked like a charm. This works for google analytic...

Re: Offical phpbb.com mobile app

I would like to say that I got caught off gaurd today by a guy I met with in a business meeting about my forum being used with his business. I am running my site as a citywide community platform. I was unaware of the popularity of apps. I wasn't sure why they were so popular as I don't own a smartph...

Re: Uninstalling Mods using Automod

Someone really needs to rework automod and make it just pull out the code instead of jacking the copies and replacing them with previous copies. This is just super messy. It is a great tool to install but it has a lot of things it could do better. Maybe it is time to get a team working on this. I ha...
