Re: Slow page load

I will update it, but the problem persists even with prosilver/subsilver in use. Maybe all I had to do was start a thread, lol. I have changed nothing, and everything is 4-5 seconds faster this morning. Interesting, after this has been a problem for weeks...

Re: [Beta] Sphinx search for phpBB 1.0.beta2

Anyone still using this? It's quite awesome when it works. My problem has been that the plugin seems to do a poor job of starting/stopping searchd to merge indexes. It gets hung, and search is lost. Re-indexing gets it going again for a while, and then it crashes again. I turned off automatically ru...

Re: [Beta] Sphinx search for phpBB 1.0.beta2

For anyone interested, I was able to get this working on shared hosting. I used figvam's fork (THANK YOU!). As long as you have shell access, you can compile and install to your home directory, like so... $ wget http://sphinxsearch.com/downloads/accept.php?file=sphinx-2.0.8-release.tar.gz $ tar -xf ...

Re: Hosting options

Still no word back from the host. As for the cpu throttling, HELLO innoDB! No longer having any issues after converting the tables. Hopefully this will hold us over for a while.

Re: Hosting options

Thanks guys. I will start by opening a ticket with my hosting company and see what they advise. As far as I know, they do not offer any virtual server options, so I hadn't really considered upgrading with them.

Thanks,
Jason

Re: Hosting options

Yeah Robert, that is what I'm looking for. Several of the virtual servers will allow many different packages based on CPU/RAM requirements. I'm trying to figure out what sort of resources I need to start with. Is 1GB of memory going to be enough for a PHPBB3 forum with 5,000 or so members? 1 CPU? Th...

Re: Hosting options

Yes, I am a member there. I am not looking for a recommendation on what hosting service, what I am looking for is some system requirement suggestions for a PHPBB3 installation of my size.

Hosting options

A couple years ago, I moved my site from hostingcheck (tehsuck) to hostmonster. We got better performance for about the same price, and no longer had issues with SQL max connections and CPU throttling. We have grown a bit more in the past couple years, and I do not think shared hosting is going to s...

Re: How can i do this?

You'll do what you want with Ranks, and not groups. A user can change rank once they reach a certain post count. Visit "manage ranks" in the ACP and it should come clear. I would not change the default groups too much, unless you want to edit permissions for certain groups. You can also assign a def...

username in post timestamp

So, if I wanted to remove the username from the timestamp at the top of each post, would I be able to do so fairly easily? One of our members pointed out that it is somewhat redundant, since you can obviously see the posters username to the left of the post. I'd like to keep the time, but not displa...

Re: [ALPHA] Membership Management with Paypal IPN

Doug, Thank you for all the work you have done on this MOD. I believe it is the only one of it's kind, and would be very useful when completed. Do you think there is any possibility of having multiple groups that could members could be automatically placed into depending on payment level? I run my s...

Re: [ALPHA] Membership Management with Paypal IPN

I am VERY interested in this as well. This could make it much easier to manage my supporting members! Would love to see the screenshots and get an update on release.

Thanks!

Jason
