Changing Root Folder

In default we're installing our forum on domainname.com/phpbb but I have installed directly on domainname.com. Now, is there any problem if I transfer all the files in a new folder ?

do my website work if I use http://www.mydomain.com ?? or do I have to use http://www.mydomain.com/newfolder ??
