Re: Discussion topic for FAQ change suggestions

Is it limited to the contents of the FAQ or do you also want suggestions to improve the implementation? On my boards, the number one misunderstood feature is why private messages appear 'stuck' in the outbox. The explanation from https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3.2/ug/userguide/pm_folders/ wo...

Re: Post approval icon always displayed in the Board index

Should post_visibility be associated with a "Newly registered users" group, which is assigned to posts appearing in the moderation queue? The ? is not attached to any user, which makes this difficult to track. Here are 2 screenshots showing my production database. I have renamed the forums, topics, ...

Re: Post approval icon always displayed in the Board index

OK, I tried:

Code: Select all

# update forums set forum_topics_unapproved = 0;
UPDATE 23
but the icon remains. I also purged the cache (Administration Control Panel --> General --> Purge the cache), but it did not make any difference.

Re: Post approval icon always displayed in the Board index

I ran the postgreSQL statements, but the icon remains in my Board index. The number of topic_posts_approved is equal to the total number of topics. I don't understand how to calculate N in the earlier post. # UPDATE topics SET topic_posts_unapproved = 0; UPDATE 284339 # SELECT COUNT(topic_id) AS Num...

I restored my database and implemented your suggested php72 command. That fixed the warnings. Thank you!

Re: Updating database from 3.2.8 to 3.2.9 has PHP warnings

Thank you! That is exactly what I'm doing. Since I'm not running PHP 7.3, I never thought to look in that direction. My localhost test environment is Fedora Linux. PHP 7.3 is the default install, so I have installed PHP 7.2 as php72 . The versions do indeed report as you say. php --version PHP 7.3.1...

Re: Moderation inconsistency and how to fix?

I have a ? icon appearing in my Board index ("Last post" column of one forum) which has the same behaviour. Hovering over the tooltip displays "At least one post in this topic has not been approved". Clicking on the icon goes to the MCP Posts awaiting approval screen with the message "There are no p...

Re: User password length vs reset password length

I have several complaints from users who did not want to type in a long reset password. They did not recognize that one can copy and paste the reset password into the login box field. A change to the password reset form may also help. The form is here: language/en/email/user_activate_password.txt . ...

Re: Banned or suspended user receives "The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again."

I have successfully incorporated the fix on my production server. Thank you very much. My concerns about disabling "Tie forms to guest sessions:" are related to your earlier post stating there were no public details on what led to the [SECURITY-228] - Require form token in login_box issue addressed ...

Re: Banned or suspended user receives "The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again."

EA117 - I see that your first pull request has been committed to the 3.2.x branch. 8-) I have incorporated the update from [ticket/16066] Fix FORM_INVALID always returned for banned user. Pull Request #5635 and confirm the fix on my localhost test environment. Based on your clear explanations, I ass...
