Re: Self hosted videos

I uploaded a standard "FLV" file. The file uploaded just fine and I was able to download it just fine. Now, a little lesson for you. NEVER assume the person posting a question is a newbee just because YOU don't recognize the name! I've been doing code for some 15 years now. I know what it *SHOULD* l...

Self hosted videos

I know this has probably been discussed to death but I need a viable way to post videos from MY own files. NOT from youtube or vimeo or other services. And if my users want to post videos from their sites, they will be able to do so. Also, what is the proper method of using the "flash" bbc? I can't ...

Re: Forum Spam

Turn on the "captcha" thing. Bots will be stopped dead in their tracks. Because they can't get by the required manual entry of the characters shown. And don't be afraid to ban by IP. Most board spammers use Russian, China, and a few other European IPs. Check the IP and use only the first two octets....

Open new window in url tag?

Let's say I want to post a text link and have that link open in a new window.

Re: How to allow wmv attachments?

Well I got it to accept the file. Changed the line in the php.ini file to show 20Mb instead of 2. But what I got was a text link. I had expected to see a window like flash does. I would like to see PHPBB allow posting of videos like so many other forum software does. And quit assuming that every hos...

Re: Copyright - dealing with parasites

Do you understand what copyright is? I don't think so. Because it is on your site, you own the copyright. WRONG! The person who owns the copyright is the person who authored the material. However, certain things are never granted a copyright. Because the material is so commonly used. To have any leg...

Re: How to allow wmv attachments?

Found this in another file.

One suggestion was to add these lines to the main .htaccess file.

RewriteEngine On
php_value post_max_size 1000M
php_value upload_max_filesize 1000M
php_value max_execution_time 6000000

Would that work?

Re: How to allow wmv attachments?

Think I found the culprit. Max file upload size is set at 2M.
How do I change this value?

Re: How to allow wmv attachments?

Sorry, but I'm not following you. You have to understand I don't know where everything is and I need some better clear cut directions to give you what you want.

Re: How to allow wmv attachments?

Just checked with the host. They say the limit per file is 64mb.
So a 7mb file should be no problem to upload.

Re: How to allow wmv attachments?

That could be the problem. I'll have to see what the limits are on the host's php ini file.
Thanks.

How to allow wmv attachments?

I just set up my new board and have been trying to figure out how to allow wmv attachments. I've tried various configurations and each time I try to upload a file, it won't. The user's guide is not all that helpfull in showing how this is done. Is there a page I can see that has more clear cut instr...
