Re: Upgrading to 3 from 2.0.22

You can't do that through phpBB but instead, you have to contact you host service provider and ask. There's various ways to deal with it but this is a server thing.

Re: ad banners not showing

I got something similar on the first day when editing overall_header locally then ftp to the server. Bad idea! Since then when I want to edit something locally, I just do what I have to do then copy/paste the code into the online editor (ACP > Styles > Templates > Edit > ). Search the community here...

Re: ad banners not showing

Ok, now I read your first post completely. When I say purge the cache: go to ACP > General > Resynchronise or reset statistics > Purge the cache

De nada! ;)

Just don't forget to turn it back (lang_main) if you still need or use the old board.

Re: phpBB 2.0.22 to PhpBB 3.0 conversion problem

I had the same problem when converting, portuguese is my lang. You dont need to worry about the collation itself. Take a look at this topic. I just had to edit the lang_main file (2.0.22) at

Code: Select all

$lang['ENCODING'] =
to

Code: Select all

$lang['ENCODING'] = 'UTF-8'
Taking care about being uppercase

Re: Problems with charset after converting from 2.0.22

But after coverting to phpbb3, I deleted the 2.0.22 files from the server. (i have a complete backup) Do I have to upload the old files and convert again? Yes, have your old install back on work because the new install will look for it in order to convert. What is converted, is converted, period. U...

Re: Problems with charset after converting from 2.0.22

I had the same problem as you, only the language is diferent, and got it fixed. Take a look at this topic, double-check your language_main encoding to see if itsn't utf8 instead of UTF-8 (seems to be case sensitive).

Re: Problems with charset after converting from 2.0.22

There is no language_main anymore, look for common.php under your lang folder

EDIT: Sorry, my mistake. You are obviously talking about the prior version so, it should be under your lang folder (on the old version)

Re: Local Install

Suposing that your server and everything else is running and ok, you can have all files copied to your test domain, something like http://127.0.0.1/mynewforum/. Then you access it through your browser - http://127.0.0.1/mynewforum/phpbb3/install/ - and install. Use localhost as DB server when asked ...

Re: "Please delete, move or rename the install directory before

Maybe your permissions (CHMOD) are set as write only. (...) Now I'm always led into "Index of /phpBB3" whenever I try to come back using the /phpBB3 address I didn't understand what you meant but english is not my lang so, could be just me. [Edit]: Ooops! Sorry, I meant CHMOD as READ only, obviously...

Re: Help with SEARCH

You have to delete the current index and rebuild it (ACP > Maintenance > Search Index) so your changes take effect. I have a similar problem, I sugest you searching here for "The following words in your search query were ignored", you'll find some posts about this. That's how I found your post and w...
