Re: hidden files lost

Thanks Robert!

I know what a robots.txt file is for, but my guess was that phpBB had created it.
I'll look into creating one, but for now I'm happy to have solved the main issue.

You gotta love the support here. Thanks much, guys!

Also unnecessary, phpBB doesn't need it.
But why is the server's error log filling up with warnings "file robots.txt not found" Mick?

Re: hidden files lost

Thanks much Mick. I asked our administrator. Here's what was needed. If you want to use the .htaccess files as distributed, you need to add the following to the virtual host definition file of your board website: <Directory /webroot/whereyourforumlives> #Options All AllowOverride All </Directory> Fo...

Re: hidden files lost

I downloaded and unzipped phpBB 3.0.12 into a dummy directory. I found all .htaccess files in that tree and copied them over to the production board, in exactly the same directories of course. Now I got a "500 Internal server error" from Apache. Looking in the server log, it says ".htaccess: order n...

hidden files lost

Hi all, I moved my board to another web server. In the process, hidden files were not moved. I found that out later after I had already deleted the source board. If memory serves, there were a number of .htaccess files. Does anybody have the contents for me? Are they all the same? And where in the t...

Re: [Beta] Dynamic Facebook and Twitter Meta Tags

Jeff, Thanks for creating this much needed mod. I am registering as a new beta user. The board is at http://my-mc-phoenix.com. Attempted to install the mod with AutoMOD 1.0.2 on phpBB 3.0.12. Got this error message: XML error: Attribute without value at line 26. View the file ./../store/mods/OGtags/...

Re: New PM is pre-filled with quote of last post

Thanks much Kevin, I didn't know that but that just very well might be the cause.
I'll inform the user and hope his problem is solved with this.
Thanks again! --Pieter

New PM is pre-filled with quote of last post

My board is at http://my-mc-phoenix.com, phpBB 3.0.11, Apache, MySQL. I got a report from one user that each time he wants to send a PM, his PM editor box is pre-filled with a quote of what appears to be the last post. Here is a screenshot he took for me: PM2.jpg It is consistent, inasfar as he can ...

Re: [Convert] Fail convert SMF2.0RC2 to phpBB3.9

Thanks much even if it isn't what I would have liked to hear... :) Yes, I have the attachments, smileys etc. as well. All considered, I will first make an attempt to convert the SMF forums and posts to XML, edit that as I did earlier so URLs get updated, funny characters stripped and html code gets ...

Re: [Convert] Fail convert SMF2.0RC2 to phpBB3.9

Hi prototech, I am admin of my-mc-phoenix.com, on phpBB 3.0.11, a re-incarnation of my-mc.com which has been discontinued. The owner kindly gave me a dump of the original board and I managed to import it using edit scripts and the Generic Message import utility. So far so good. Unfortunately, in 201...

Yes that was the issue Brf. Tnx for the tip. Here is what I came up with. Somebody may find this useful. Please read all of the code so you understand what variables need to be altered before you run it. An always make a backup copy of your database first! <?php /* A simple way to add a batch of new...

Re: Generic message import

I'm almost done importing 40.000 messages. There is one annoyance in this otherwise excellent tool: More often than not, it doesn't finish. The import will be done, but the ACP page remains waiting forever. It never comes back with the "Success" page. My way to work around this has been to open a 2n...

Re: Generic message import

Had to solve the unknown user problem manually by importing all users mentioned in all messages to be imported manually. And changing "guest" in "Anonymous". The user import will skip users already known so it is an ease way to add those that have posted messages to be imported, but aren't registere...

Re: Generic message import

I am also running into the "invalid integer" SQL error when attempting to import a message from an unknown userid.
Preview says the userid will be treated as 'Anonymous' but that doesn't work.
