Re: Reordering Topics

OK. I finally figured this out. I changed my organization structure to create a forum for each candidate so I can move them from category to category and change their order by simply clicking up or down. This will work, perfectly. DUH!!!

Re: Reordering Topics

You have never said what order you wish them to be in. It would help to know that. These are presidential candidates and the order would change every week (theoretically) based on national polling results. They would/could shift up or down every week, depending on those results. And how many are th...

Re: Reordering Topics

I have no clue what those roll-overs are. The bump option is at the bottom of viewtopic. Hi. I'm guessing that one of my extensions has eliminated the 'view topic' as I can't find it anywhere and added what you don't recognize. Unfortunately, moving and/or copying won't change the creation date and...

Re: Reordering Topics

OK. so - when I roll over the first topic, I see a bump option, but who would want to bump the top thread? https://beta-static.photobucket.com/images/ll10/BigFrank2001/0/4c8bcbb7-256b-47ed-923e-8dcc87698c22-original.png?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds When I roll over the second item, that I would...

No-no. Do not bump them with a new post. Simply select "Bump topic" from the Topic Tools at the bottom of your viewtopic.
lol. That sounds too easy. My life doesn't work that way, but I'll look into that, now. TYVM.

Re: Reordering Topics

You could bump them. That would change the last post time. I'm quite new to the forum game, so please don't laugh at the following. I understand what that means, but if I do that and then delete the bump post, later, will I accomplish anything or will things just revert to what they were, before th...

Re: Reordering Topics

Keep an eye on the development of this https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=2491876 I will - thank you. You could post one character replies in them to order them based on the time stamps, although users can change the topic order in their own settings anyway. Well, once I list the data ...

Reordering Topics

I am trying to determine a way to permanently change the way the following topics are ordered to display, based on nothing more than the personal preference I need based on criteria contained in the topic, relating to a 'ranking' figure. https://beta-static.photobucket.com/images/ll10/BigFrank2001/0...

Method to Bulk Remove Topics

Greetings,

Is there a way to bulk delete topics from my forum? It's perfectly acceptable if it has to be a total removal of all topics and their underlying posts.

Thank you.

Re: Will Changing Board Settings Delete Already Existing Data

Just tested with links on my online board (the risk isn't really great) Right. With my luck, they would have all been deleted from every post. lol and they don't seem to be affected, I've also edited a link but then did not save, and the post wasn't affected either (that part was almost a certainty...

How do you limit the length of posts?
Edit: Just found out that there is a setting on ACP for maximum characters - never knew that was there
Was just going to upload an image. :-) Frank

On both questions the answer is no (I think, not tested).
Right. I haven't tested at the risk of potential disaster. Hopefully someone will supply a definitive answer.
But new posts will be affected as well as editing posts.
Makes sense. TY.

Will Changing Board Settings Delete Already Existing Data

Greetings. A couple of questions, if I may. 1. If a forum is originally set up to allow URL's in posts, if you change the settings to disallow URL's, will existing URL's be affected in any way upon making the change? 2. Likewise, if you are set for unlimited posts length and then you reduce the size...
