Re: did the update methods change?

even if i knew which php file is causing this error, i wouldn't even know how to repair it. so if it hasn't completed the process, is it safe to just abandon the incomplete update? It goes as far as: Collecting file differences Currently differences of 55 of 301 files have been checked. Please wait ...

Re: did the update methods change?

I'm at the host control panel right now. Nothing obvious to click like "error log" that will show me what you are suggesting.

what about in my phpbb directories? Any error log files there?

Re: did the update methods change?

Thanks Lumpy.

Okay, so I chose the auto update...

after it successfully updated the database and went on to "check files", I encounter:
Error 500 - Internal server error

An internal server error has occured!
Please try again later.

Thumbs.db file in my ../template folder?

I just noticed in my ...[theme]/template folder that there's a Thumbs.db file. I never noticed it before and wondered if it's always been there? What kind of info does it store and what happens if i delete it? It's pretty big. 300,000 kb

Re: did the update methods change?

Guys, I can read the descriptions just fine. It's just that I'd like to know a little bit more detail on HOW it works before I start running any installs. I don't want to run the auto update and have my board crash, simply because someone forgot to mention something crucial. Before you start rolling...

Re: did the update methods change?

refresh my memory. If i choose "automatic" update, doesn't it just overwrite files that may have been altered by other mods, therefore I have to reinstall ALL my mods all over again?

Re: did the update methods change?

i apologize for sounding confused here, but to clarify:

I'm running 3.0.5. Do I need to make "Code Changes" and update it to 3.0.6? THEN do I manually follow the instructions to "Change Files" to update to 3.0.7L?

OR do I just do the "Changed Files" option?

did the update methods change?

I've been on hiatus with phpbb for several months. running 3.0.5 right now and I was looking to update to 3.0.7L... Thing is, I used to update manually, and I remember that there used to be instructions to "find" "add"/etc... I don't see that type of install file anymore for the ...
