Re: Setting up a second forum from a first one

Perhaps I have not been as clear as it needed to be. My question is not about mods and premods, but about copying a forum structure and files to build another forum, without having to set up everything a second time. I guess (but I'm not sure) the problem is the same with any customized phpBB forum ...

Setting up a second forum from a first one

Hi, I'm a beginner with phpBB and I'm using the version 3.0.12 I have just launched a forum that I customized with a theme and a few MODs (the Premod SEO, Automod, Facebook, Ajax Like, etc). It took me hours but it's working fine. Now, I'd like to set up another forum with the exact same theme and M...

Re: Advanced User Ignore MOD

I think our suggestions to give control to the people themselves, without central control, is important because it is the technical way to spread democracy and freedom of speech. The current set of rules by default in phpBB matches a political system like monarchy : - King --> Admin - Nobles --> Mod...

Re: Advanced User Ignore MOD

AmigoJack :) <3 Even if you sound pessimistic, the list you just made sounds GREAT. That's the technical program we need to make our user-managed forum !!! Ok this is a bit complex and tricky, ok this is a... REVOLUTION !!! And no revolution is easy to make. But think of all the forums that could be...

Re: Advanced User Ignore MOD

Ok. Situation : Forum members : ABCDE. Once, B bothers A with an offending message. With the auto-moderation rule (described here : https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=1216515 ), A deletes the offending message from B. But B does it again, and posts 2 agressive comments on the topic...

Re: Advanced User Ignore MOD

I still prefer a full invisibility. Let's say I'm jewish : I don't want to be informed that Hitler started a new topic or that he came to make 10 critical and agressive comments on my topics. NO WAY. That would hurt too much. Do you agree that Facebook works rather well, with experienced people havi...

Re: Advanced User Ignore MOD

"1) why would I be a member of a forum where I didn't like the other member's posts -" * On a forum with 2000 members, perhaps 500 like the posts of the member A, and 500 dislike it. Why would one group take power over the preferences of another ? "2) why, as an admin, can't I just get rid of the of...

Re: Advanced User Ignore MOD

Yes, I agree ! That's a great way to deal with conflicts in a society. If A bothers B, B punishes A by a total exclusion of his/her own expression space. And A is still a member of the community, stays free to speak, can have other friends. This way, no police, no jail, no central authority, no thou...

Re: [RC2] phpBB Ajax Like

Thanks for being there :) You mean, what you said here : - if you use language rather than english, copy all language files to folder of your language (if translate not exist). ? By "all language files", do you mean : * the language files of phpBB * or the language files of your MOD ? By "folder of ...

Re: Advanced User Ignore MOD

As the admin of a forum of highly sensitive people, I would also like to install a MOD that would allow the users to ignore some other users. We don't want to ban anybody for their freedom of speech or their mistakes. We consider that the people that SOME moderators or SOME members would consider as...
