Re: What is the Future of phpBB?

If we want phpBB to continue to grow and regain market share, it simply needs to be enhanced with options that this market needs and is looking for. What they are - I wrote above. ● create your own SIMPLE forum reader for Android / iOS - so that you don't have to use TT for easy access to forum con...

Re: Discuss: phpBB 3.2.9 Release

Don’t forget the phpBB maintenance cycle is often driven by the vendors and their versioning, as has been seen with PHP lately. You can’t very well ignore changes made by the supplier of your scripting language and a lot of those changes are customer driven. eg. PHP 7.2 Security Support Until 30 No...

Re: Discuss: phpBB 3.2.9 Release

Thanks for this update. The timetable for maintenance and security fixes is as follows: End of Maintenance (EOM): April 6th, 2020 End of Life (EOL): July 6th, 2020 It is very short time for extensions developers to do changes in extensions code to achieve compatibility with 3.3. Many good and popula...

Re: New GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and phpBB

I reiterate the point - it is the board owner's responsibility and if a particular software package does not meet their requirements then do not use it and find one that does. It really is that simple. Yes, it is true! But I and the others wants to use phpBB as a good board software and we would to...

Re: New GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and phpBB

Maybe this is the reason why there are commercial solutions exists and people pay a lot of money for them but they can also be sure that everything works in accordance with the law (at least he tries to make everything comply with the law).

Re: New GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and phpBB

Hello As the founder of this topic, I want to say that for 2-3 years nothing has changed in the phpBB group's approach to the GPDR directive. It doesn't matter if someone is in the EU or not, it's right when you read it to look coherent and pro consumer, pro human. Currently, even non-EU countries a...

Re: Two factor authentication (2FA)

The PSD2 directive (for payments) has been operating in the EU for several months. 2FA is common, we meet it every day and everywhere, but not in phpbb :( It is sad. I can understand the lack of human resources in the phpbb community to accomplish this task or maybe the lack of knowledge but I don't...

Re: Contact to admin link

In this case, in my opinion, the email address should be masked by a JS/php function. eg Joomla has built in 'Content - Email Cloaking' plugin it is default on in order to protected email address'es in a site content. This is a link to source of this function https://github.com/joomla/volunteers.joo...
