Re: Guide to Newsletters

Yes it's a MOD but I assumed there was a basic Newsletter which the MOD was extending. However if there is no newsletter functionality at all, then I posted in the wrong place! Sorry!

Re: How Does A Thread Vanish?

The only way it can disappear is if you alter the SQL query, or you remove the post from the database.
This is quite straightforward. Something doesn't disappear from a database by itself.

Of course, somebody with Admin access could delete it deliberately, but assuming you considered that.

Re: Users can't upload/attach files?

you are hitting a limit imposed by your host. the default php upload limit on most servers is set to 2MB. robert Yes it's true - I logged a case with the host and that's what they say. The plan is 2 GB storage or something so it ought to have been fine, But the host said that size files is not ok.

Re: Users can't upload/attach files?

Does anyone know if there is an upper limit to attached files?
I set it to no upper limit, but I can still manage with a small file but a 700 MB file give the error that I am quoting above.

Users can't upload/attach files?

There are some users that I gave the permission to upload files. But they get odd error messages. I don't understand why. Is there anything else that needs to be done, other than just grant the user permission to upload? If anyone wants to have a go, the site is http://www.bibelkristna.com uid quizm...

Re: Help, URL BBcode stopped working

Thank you for the response.
I think the problem was that I wasn't using http://
Also I thought I could use

Code: Select all

[url="http://www.example.com"]Example site[/url]
but this doesn't work. Only

Code: Select all

[url]http://www.example.com[/url]
works.... A shame because the hyperlink can sometimes be quite ugly.

Impact on performance of hosting on the wrong continent

Something just occurred to me. Why did I host my site in the US when all the users are in Europe! I think I made a mistake. Or? (the reason was actually that I wanted to pay with bitcoin since I had some to spare. All the bitcoin hosts are out of the USA. And so is the NSA. :o ) That aside, what is ...

How can users easily find responses to their posts?

Just kicked off my forum and one of the first things that came up is that users want an easy way to find if somebody responded to their comments or topics, or quoted them. The reason is because the "norm" in forum usage in Sweden is set by a sort of "national" forum that we have, which has a functio...
