Re: Mobile app for a phpBB forum

If your site is Drupal, the best solution is convert to a version of Drupal which is responsive. Latest version Drupal 8 is responsive. Check whether Drupal has an app for Android. If not, try WordPress. They provide apps for Android and iOS.

Re: High bandwidth usage

If it is bots, Cloudflare might help. But Cloudflare can cause its own issues related to caching and others.

If your forum hosting is helpful, ask them to install phpBB for you in a folder called " forum". By that way, you forum will be at mydomain.com/forum

Re: Trying to copy a PHPBB from one hosting company to another

There a lot of hosts which will do the migration for free. If your host wants some fee, see if you can afford it.

cPanel allows you to take a full backup and restore from it. If you run into problems, try seeking help from your host support.

Re: Forum mails go into spam

That is one reason I do not enable email notifications by default. When a lot of people mark you as spam, it will affect your domain, server IP etc.

I am not sure whether rouge bots honour robots.txt . A lot of them does not care how much harm they cause to the webmasters.

That is what a lot of people do. Convert to a supported version and then upgrade.
