Re: New Posts under Quick Links. What is the default setting?

Thanks Brf, Robert and AmigoJack for your comments. As Robert says Unread Posts rather than New Posts is for me probably a better option. With regards any forum I guess we are all different in what we want to do once logged on. Some will not bother with Quicks Links but head straight for the Board...

New Posts under Quick Links. What is the default setting?

Having done a forum search and found some topics on New Posts going back several years, the following might seem a bit of an old chestnut but can I ask what is the current phpBB default on New Posts? A forum that I use updated its phpBB software earlier this year. I can’t see that they would have ...

Re: How qualified do you need to be to set up and run a phpBB based forum?

Mick, many thanks for that. As a phpBB layman that’s what I have said for quite a while but it’s good to have confirmation from someone much more involved with the phpBB than I am. In fact from what you say it is even easier to use than I had thought!

Thanks again.

How qualified do you need to be to set up and run a phpBB based forum?

How qualified do you need to be to set up and run a phpBB based forum? It’s a question that I have recently been discussing with a friend. Does the work need to be farmed out to professional programers or can be it done in-house by someone with a modicum of understanding of IT? My impression of ph...

Re: Online user list - My name is in italics but it should not be

David, that's a good point. It was a relatively simple question as was the answer but what happened to me that prompted the question in the first place is borne out by what you say. Would I have thought of going to the UCP and working through the various preferences before I found the answer. Poss...

Re: Online user list - My name is in italics but it should not be

Kevin it makes sense that the administrators and moderators can see who is hidden and who isn't but the registered user might still end up being curious as I was. Perhaps the answer is for the Board Preferences notes to be amended to explain. Currently this what we see: Online status setting - Scr...

Re: Online user list - My name is in italics but it should not be

Many thanks David and Kevin. Yes, that's it. I must have changed the setting yonks ago and had forgotten. Just out of interest is a registered user informed anywhere on the forum, whichever one it is, that in changing their status to 'hidden' their username will appear in italics? Don't say to me ...

Online user list - My name is in italics but it should not be

I belong to a phpBB based forum that I am not involved with in any way. I am simply 'Joe Bloggs', a registered user. I am not and never have been involved with the administration and/or moderation of that forum. However when I am logged on and look at the list of other users currently online my na...

Re: Registration - Is double entry of an email address possible?

By chance today elsewhere on the forum virtually the same question has been asked. I agree that the problem is not solved if someone uses a copy and paste. However something at the back of my mind tells me that when I have come across the double entry of data on some websites it will not allow me ...

Registration - Is double entry of an email address possible?

We are running 3.1.10 On the registration form potential forum users are requested to enter their email address. They are not requested to enter it again to confirm that it is correct. I understand that the double entry system did at one time feature in phpBB but for some reason was dropped. Is th...

Steve, there was first talk in January of a backwards compatible version to 3.1.x with an indication that it would be available in a few weeks. Is that still on the cards or have you had to abandon the idea?

Thanks Robert.

What has thrown me is the information on this page from phpbb.org

Where am I going wrong?

Re: Can an image be displayed within ‘Forum rules’ at the top of a forum page?

I’ve successfully added images to the Forum Rules by entering code is this way: However when I amend the code to show a resized image the generally accepted phpBB way of doing it doesn’t work as per this example: http://www.xyz.com/images/a...
