Re: SSL HTTPS help URGENT PLEASE HELP

You may want to read my write up I have a link to in my signature. I would also use CloudFlare and CIDRAM. I know the author of CIDRAM. I can help you greatly at protecting your site, although, I'm code stupid. As far as HTTPS goes. Just use cPanel's Lets Encrypt free service. It should be the...

Re: Discuss: phpBB 3.2.2 Release

Basically, if you have essential core file edits, it's best to keep a document describing them, This is what I do since I had nothing but trouble with the auto update package going back to like 3.1.1. Now I just do an over write and mod my files all back to what they were before. Prior to doing tha...

Re: forum off line...please help me!!!

I think I recognize that error. Some web hosts have PHP configured in a way that prevents DOM from reading local files. I don't remember how it works but it's something related to network settings, somehow. You can test it locally with something like this, which should output bool(true) on a workin...

Re: forum off line...please help me!!!

You answered no to having any extension installed, but the error is indicating this extension: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=456&t=2272431 Perhaps your friend that installed the forum for you installed that extension and perhaps other extensions as well. And to clear things up on w...

Re: What's the easiest OS/DB to run phpBB on from a maintenance standpoint??

If you want to host locally, you are better off installing CentOS and LAMP (Linux Apache, MySQL, PHP) in a virtual machine and go from there. Xampp or Wamp are never meant to host websites to the wild west of the Internet as they are not very secure. I have, however used Xampp to create one of my fo...

Re: [3.2][ALPHA] Modern quote - multiquote and quote highlighted text

Quick reply is on as this extension requires it. I never had it on from the begin with, but it's on now. If you are having an issue with this extension then it's more than likely related to another one of your extensions you have installed. I would try disabling any extension you suspect as having a...

Re: [3.2][ALPHA] Modern quote - multiquote and quote highlighted text

Seems to work and the quote button is next to the text this time. I don't have a problem with the quoted user name. I tried this in two forums both with different themes.

I'm in the middle of changing domains. So once I get that all sorted out I'll try this new version.

Re: [3.2][ALPHA] Modern quote - quote highlighted text

Okay, so this time the quote bottom is way at the bottom. If you can discover some type of code the places the quote button near the quoted text it would be a very good thing to do. I haven't tried this with a smartphone yet.

Re: Help needed with spam

You're welcome. I use the sortables captcha myself and it has worked. I also use a script that uses the stop forum database. But that other extension would achieve the same result. The script I use is called CIDRAM and if interested check it out.

Ah, okay. I would encourage you to post in the extension forums so I can communicate there and watch the progress.

Okay, I tested this and the quote button ends up way up top. Anyway to make it next to the quoted text?

Re: Highlight text to quote

I've stumbled on this idea. It seemed rather simple to me, so I made a rough quick 'n' dirty extension for it: https://github.com/GerB/modernquote If people are interested, I'm willing to expand this and make this a more proper extension. For the moment I've simply added a floating quote button, no...
