Thanks! I started with a layout that didn't have anything to do with my website, but once I figured out how to change things, it wasn't anything at all like the orginal. It's hard to find the "perfect" layout. I just don't understand how you guys can create the codes and differnt MODs for the forum...

heh.. I think I seriously thought about installing that one once.
The only issue I see with that is that I've seen spammers enter URL's into every field on the registration form.
Also, since that old one is not actively developed anymore, I'd do better to stick with this one. :)

Kill 'em all

Since I love this mod, I thought I'd share with you guys how I've been using it with astounding success. Here are some settings I have in place, so know that this won't work for everybody. I have registration set to where the user must verify their membership via email. In the Antispam management pa...

I just installed version 1.2.4 and noticed that it has a deal where you can delete all banned records. When I want to delete all of them, I just put a large number like 1000 or something to delete them. I usually don't bother with banning the IP unless they're really bad. Most spammers spoof the IP ...

Finally got upgraded to the latest and greatest.
I really wish I had a spam-kill counter ramon. :)

This mod, kills on average 30-40 spam registration attempts per day on my forum. Sometimes more.

Great work! Like the new "test" feature you added.

looks like you can try the same thing with the webmaster tags, now. :) It would appear that your phpbb install is inserting this into the xml: Linux.org.BD Forum <forum@linux.org.bd> Do you have that exact string entered into you phpbb configuration somewhere, like the admin email address or somethi...

you can open up rss.php and find this:

Code: Select all

<managingEditor>".$board_config['board_email']."</managingEditor>
and insert your actual board-admin's email address.

I think I had this problem before, and this fixed it.

bblackmoor, This mod is excellent. It checks ALL fields in the registration form including the website and interests fields. Optionally, it will check (according to your settings), users' posts thereafter up to a certain number of posts or number of days. That way if a spammer registers, but looks l...

Upgraded to 1.1.9 a little while ago. Also updated my ever-growing word list: http://meeciteewurkor.com/antispam_words.txt (mysql format: inserts words only) I may point out that the above list is becoming very effective against spam registrations. I have yet to have a successful spam registration s...

I've updated my spam word list with quite a few keywords from the last 50 or so spam registration attempts I've received if anyone is interested.

http://www.meeciteewurkor.com/antispam_words.txt
SQL format

It inserts the words only.

hmm.. weird. I ran the upgrade SQL from the upgrade instructions. It should have worked. I totally forgot about phpbb_config having values for the spam mod. I checked the database version and it says 1.1.7. Can I just change that manually? Not really a big deal, I guess, but since the versions are c...

Ramon, Got 1.1.8 running fine now. In the Control panel, how do I get the message warning me to update my database to go away? Also, are users given a message if their post is held for moderation? I had a guy yesterday try to post 8 times, before I finally noticed and got his name under the "bypass ...

Excellent! Will install this weekend. The post/reply approve feature will be excellent. I got a false positive on a new member the other day, and lost the message the member had written. Had to apologize... Thanks for your hard work! I'll let you know if there are any bugs or anything. Oh, and...

Here's a link to the SQL I used to insert all the spam words into the table: http://meeciteewurkor.com/antispam_words.txt Notice that I use the prefix "phpbb_". If yours is different simply do a "find and replace" on the text file to use your own prefix. I'll probably update this list later and remo...

Excellent work! I removed the old version and installed this new one. And it's working perfectly! Do you really think it's necessary to to include the "replacement" field in the spam words table, "antispamdb_words"? The import SQL could just grab the word field from the "phpbb_words" table. Also, si...
