Fair enough, Kev - the functionality is there, then. Personally I think it's just more intuitive to have it there from scratch, that's all. :)

Re: a horror classic: how to add a user (with acp 1.1.3/?)

It's a workaround, Frank, I'll give you that! But really this should be a straightforward option in the admin. Something for the developers to think about, perhaps.

Re: a horror classic: how to add a user (with acp 1.1.3/?)

Well maybe... But I have to agree with fitnessbrain - it really should be a no-brainer for a permissioned admin to be able to add users. Users are central to the board - so should be central to the admin function, too. As it stands, the admin can only strike off unwanted registrants...which is more ...

Re: a horror classic: how to add a user (with acp 1.1.3/?)

- even though the most user get registered by their own, the admin should have a standard option to add user by hand I wholeheartedly agree. It's gobsmacking that this option isn't available by default in the admin! We want to run a fairly private, closed board - ideally removing the register link ...

Re: User management

Hmmm...! There's no such thing as an easy ride, is there ;) Having looked at the backend/admin side of this version of phpbb I must say it's waaaaay to complicated. I think I may roll back to phpbb2, or some simpler forum script - we're not a big group and I think this may be unnecessarily 'heavywei...

Re: User management

OK, thx.

I'd do that if I could log in. But now PHPBB won't let me log in...as admin.... I have my username and password written down in front of me and I'm fairly literate, even if I do say so myself.

But no, it says I've got the wrong username/password.

Re: User management

Hi Kev, ah...thanks ;) Weird, though! Why hide the list behind another link? It's not unreasonable to assume that if you click 'Manage Users' you would probably want to see....your users! So why not stick them up front, where you'd expect to find them? ------ Having found my user, who has just regis...

User management

Hi, I've always liked the look of PHPBB boards and have just installed 3.0.12 (via host's auto-install of script) to run a group. Install was easy but what on earth is going on with the user management interface? When IO go to 'manage users' I expect to see a....well, a list of users!! Instead I jus...
