Re: Not logged-in users with read-only permissions can reply to topics and post new

Thank you both for taking the time to reply on this - I really appreciate your help! I was unaware of the existence of the anonymous user for some reason. I looked him up and for some unknown reason, he's been added to the 'registered users' group! No idea how that happened - maybe something a previ...

Not logged-in users with read-only permissions can reply to topics and post new

Hi, I've just noticed that people who aren't logged in to my forum are able to click the reply button at the bottom and post a reply (so long as they get the Captcha answer right). This isn't how I thought it was supposed to work. As I understand it, any users who are not logged in are in the group ...

Re: Drag and drop attachment improvement

Sure - I understand your point about not necessarily wanting attachments to be in-line. I think that's why I suggested it could be optional (somehow - via ACP or personal user settings maybe?) Certainly if the attachment was an EXE or something then you wouldn't want in-line attachment. I'm just loo...

Drag and drop attachment improvement

<t>When dragging an image into the editing window of a post, the image is attached successfully in the 'attachments' section, but does not yet appear in the post. You have to either click the 'Place Inline' button, or drag the attachment from below the editing window to put the image inline.<br/> <b...

Re: Server-side file size reduction for images

Aha - I spoke too soon. I changed the maximum size back to 8MiB, but left max image dimensions as 1000x1000 and now I get file reduction (see the 11:43 file): -rw-rw-rw- 1 www-data www-data 96207 Nov 28 11:43 thumb_19725_c0090d0b881c273a5c0bdb864beb659d -rw-rw-rw- 1 www-data www-data 307781 Nov 28 1...

Re: Server-side file size reduction for images

Hi Frank - I think I understand. The image I am experimenting with is 4288x2848 pixels. I did the following - set Maximum File Size to 1MiB - set Maximum Image Dimensions to 2000x2000px - log out of admin - log in as standard user - try to attach file, but get the 'file too large' error So I'm not s...

Re: Server-side file size reduction for images

Thanks for the reply Frank. I didn't know that. I logged in as a test user who is not admin or moderator, but the effect seems to be the same - see below the latest two files were created when a standard user uploaded the same image (time=11:04). The files at 09:04 were uploaded by me as admin: user...

Re: Server-side file size reduction for images

One thing I just noticed - plupload creates a directory with the same date/time as my uploaded image: -rw-rw-rw- 1 www-data www-data 99661 Nov 28 09:44 thumb_17247_5f8417d7aafd8deeef27f3880e98499c -rw-rw-rw- 1 www-data www-data 3240805 Nov 28 09:44 17247_5f8417d7aafd8deeef27f3880e98499c drwxr-xr-x 2...

Server-side file size reduction for images

Hi - I've been following the following thread about reducing the size (in bytes) of attached images on PhpBB: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=496&t=2431441 In the thread, the poster appears to have manually edited a 'quality' setting in plupload.php and achieved a file size reduc...

Re: Request: Intelligent Attached Image Uploader

+10 for this request.

Facebook's ease of uploading images is (in my opinion) killing my forum's usage. Anything that makes image uploading/embedding easier will attract users back and is most welcome.

Looks like the plupload upgrade is scheduled to be in 3.2.2 when I look at the tracker.

Re: Integrated login - works fine, unless wrong password is entered

Hi - thanks for the reply. I don't quite understand. The login form's redirect works if the username is correct, but does not work if the username is wrong. The form is being posted to the same URL, and the hidden redirect is being sent each time, so it seems that a failed login ignores this paramet...

Re: Problems moving board to another host

I just checked and I can telnet to port 3306 of localhost, so I think it is not Iptables that is causing the issue.
Any other advice appreciated...
Andrew
