Re: Is this a reasonable charge?

Whilst its true that technically support people could charge anything. $35 for google analytics! I know plenty of 14 year olds with IT skills competent enough for far more then that who would be ecstatic with alot less! (although to me, rather then that being a critisism of the support company, I me...

Re: No operations for smokers!

Personally I'm not a fan of denying health-care to a smoker. I'd prefer they make smoking illegal full-stop before they prevent health care. Public health care is supposed to be universal and its not about what is economically more sensible. Ideally you'd get government health laws that suggest ever...

Re: Official phpBB Podcast! (Episode 2 is Live!)

Does that mean I'd have to install itunes? Or just download it from the itunes site? (getting a bit confused with the links)

Re: Official phpBB Podcast! (Episode 2 is Live!)

I really liked episode 2 and especially the AJAX stuff (and favourite feature was fun too). One thing I thought was that you'd explain "geeky" terms after talking about them a bit. Personally I would have gone with the "AJAX allows you to refresh part of the page without refreshing the whole page" m...

Re: [Request] Facebook Mod

We are thinking of making a facebook like mod. But we're a bit confused about the best way to deal with this.

Do you allow posting on your own wall?
Do you allow wall-to-walls?
How should this be integrated into the forum?

Re: Official phpBB Podcast! (Episode 2 is Live!)

Personally I really liked the cookie and coppa discussions with the deapth they went into on the first podcast. As we're developing a mod that is dealing with cookies, it was very interesting and the COPPA was very useful as a UK person

Re: Reading other users PMs (as Admin)

wow, this topic was hard to follow :P Um I think you're wrong about gmail and reading e-mails. Maybe I haven't got my facts straight but certainly ethical gmail don't have humans reading your e-mails (there are many many privacy activists against that) and I know many companies would run a mile from...

Putting live board on an SVN repository? What do you think?

We've got a bunch of people managing one live board. Its got a bunch of mods we've developed or we're tweaking (when trying to fix problems for example). So we're thinking of putting the entire live board's files up in a SVN repository that would be publically available. Obviously we won't put anyth...

Generic phpbb SQL installer

What do you think? Has anyone made one or would like one? What I'm thinking is a SQL install file that fits in with phpbb's permissions, that provides a nice GUI that takes the user through the process of updating their database for the mod. The SQL is called from a seperate file so the actual insta...

Mod teams using Subservsion or CVS

Did a quick search and found nothing. But are there any mod teams that have used Version Control to help collaborate and further their development? Especially teams with multiple mods on the same repository? I was wondering if anyone knew of any tutorials of how to use SVN whilst making mods for php...

Re: [DEV] My Profile Space

there will be one thing that i find to be a major pain... the friends section of phpbb3 i do not like it... More info on that at a later date... I agree! There is someone on startrekguide who has been developing an advanced friends mod that allows approval. I'm wanting something more similar to fac...

Re: [Beta] HotEditor WYSIWYG MOD for phpBB3

Looks like a fantastic mod! Just one thing, I've noticed that the mod makes the whole browser run quite a bit slower (especially IE7 less so FF). Is that because there are more optimisations to come? Or is it just the nature of an advanced text editor like this. (The Sharepoint WYSIWYG editor doesn'...

Re: Safe Mods

Yeah I've quite liked this and will probably make all our mods "safe". Because this seems to help the patching of phpbb? It means when you install a phpbb patch, all the core code is still there and untouched. So it will update everything. It will then be the job of the mod author to make sure each ...

New topics not effecting parent forum

I love the fact that when you post in a sub-forum. On the Index.php it shows a new post in the parent forum

However is it possible to disable this? So that New posts in the sub-forum don't effect the new post status of the parent on index.php?
