Re: Cannot log back into the forum

I don't know what the youtube video told you to do, but this is the official install instructions: https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3.2/ug/

I would go through it and make sure you did the same steps.

Re: Installing forums

Did you follow the installation guide: https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3 ... uirements/

There are more than just "uploading files" in the installation process.

Re: Login problems after update

How did you upgrade? This is the correct procedure from 3.2.x and up: https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3 ... ating-32x/

Also, it would be very helpful if you filled out an SRT: https://www.phpbb.com/support/srt/

Re: Update from 3.2.2 to latest

I think updating for the first time is daunting for the novice (like myself). However, once you do it, it will be much easier the next time. I did an update this week and it took about 20 minutes with all the backuping up first, transferring files, and then the actual database update and final clean...

If you do go with vBulletin, make sure you go with the latest patched version.

Re: Why My admin account is blocked uppon the first use?

vBulletin is certainly an alternative but paid software if I recall. I think they are now in the hosting business but is fairly expensive. If you think it is a hosting issue, you can also look for a different host and install phpBB there. Would most likely be much more cost-effective in the long run.

Re: Why My admin account is blocked uppon the first use?

think a large portion of the issues people have is that they don't follow the directions provided for doing things. It seems like in the majority of update issues, people did not follow the instructions in the KB article. People are using 1-click installs. Using host ftp to transfer files. Not maki...

Re: Why My admin account is blocked uppon the first use?

The problem is phpbb!! This is the price you have to pay when using badly made software like this and wordpress and ofcourse there is php which in itself is another thing. With all due respect, I don't think this is true. I've been using phpBB since 2012 and there are thousands of sites using it wi...

Re: Why My admin account is blocked uppon the first use?

And here is the KB article on FTP use for phpBB: https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3 ... ticle/ftp/

Very important. I've had transfer issues in the past and don't recommend your host's "online ftp" for any use.

The KB article outlines the proper way of updating. Follow it to the letter. It works. I've done it many times.

Must be team only then. If you draft up an article and send it to me via PM, I'll look into getting it published.
Ok. Let me see what I can do and I'll send you a PM.

Re: Updating to 3.2.8

Do you know who I would contact about a KB submission? Does this link work for you? https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3.2/kb/submit/ Also, the downloads page wording has been brought up with the website team. ;) I don't get anything in that links except "NOTICE: THE KB IS TEMPORARILY IN READ-ON...

Re: Updating to 3.2.8

Do we know why it is still that way? I have been following/using phpBB for years and the KB article on updating has been around for a long time. Not sure who is "in charge" of the www.phpBB.com but I think this should be a priority to fix. Seems like a lot of people make the mistakes of using the i...
