Re: New GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and phpBB

I would add: Are your database backups in the cloud or somewhere accessible by a hacker ? On a simple community phpBB forum, the only personal data collected and in your possession, are the pseudo, the password (encrypted), the email address and IP addresses, and the cookies used are simple function...

Re: New GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and phpBB

- Do you collect more information than the phpBB need for its operation? - Is your forum commercial? - Do you sell the information collected? - Have you installed extensions that collect data from your users for an external company? - Are your database backups on the cloud? If the answer is no for e...

Re: [3.2][RC] Privacy Policy

Good evening David I do not believe that there is a bug with this. I do not know what other users think, but I think there is a big logic problem! If I take the capture from hurghanico message : https://imgur.com/i6A6Yvj.jpg Since in the comboBox the English language is selected, where is the logic ...

Re: [3.2][RC] Privacy Policy

Good evening David. It seems that there is a bug on the management of "Policy file options". When editing the policy for other languages, it is possible to determine (or not) the "Policy file name". When updating the policy text: If we do not change the name, we find it twice with the same name of p...

Re: [3.2][RC] Privacy Policy

When you create a translation there is a text box at the top with the policy name pre filled in (Cookie Policy) which you can/should change to be in your own language. The only way that you could change it is by editing the database as I have not built in an editing procedure for that field. Hello ...

Re: New GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and phpBB

Also, please try to keep this a civilized discussion. it doesn't matter, I expected that kind of response. ;) I will just complete what you said because this will be useful for those who consider my arguments valid because they are issued by an authority: This was also already answered. Don't proce...

Re: New GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and phpBB

Hi tojag, I have some questions to ask you? - Is your forum a professional, political, or associative forum? - Do you collect information other than that collected by your phpBB forum? - Do you market the information collected by your forum such as email addresses, IP addresses, personal information...

Re: New GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and phpBB

This is your point of view. Mine and that of many others is different and obviously you will not change your mind. Personally, everything on my forums is voluntary, without ads and I do not sell or transmit any information to anyone. The only income is donations made by some members once or twice a ...

Re: [3.2][RC] Privacy Policy

Hihihi. I'm waiting for you. Is it normal to be unable to set the font size for the cookie acceptance text? "This board uses cookies to give you the best and most relevant experience. Re: New GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and phpBB

Again, you confuse the personal data collected and the personal data shared.

It's up to you.
As you have been advised, you should read carefully the various messages of this topic. On it, I leave you with your uncertainties.

Re: [3.2][RC] Privacy Policy

It is quite natural and understandable. Personally, I do not have this problem, because there is no advertising on my forums, but this improvement would make it comply with the phpBB graphic charter. Here's what phpBB displays by default for cookies : https://goopics.net/i/mgvJk I find this banner "...

Re: New GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and phpBB

But once you delete user account, user no longer has access to his posts and can not edit or delete them. Besides, on many forums this possibility is blocked in a short time after sending the post. Then the user can not delete his data by himself. And he does not have to remember them. Do you use y...

Re: [3.2][RC] Privacy Policy

Tanks for the tip. @David63 To avoid this kind of inconvenience, would not it be wise for the privacy policy banner to be in the middle of the window or much bigger? by default, phpBB 3.2 now displays a cookie banner at the bottom of the screen like hurghanico said it will be wiser (advertising bann...
