email questions

Is it now possible in the latest version of phpBB to let users activate their accounts through email verification and ALSO get an email when a new user signs up? Basically, I want to be able to send a beautiful 'WELCOME' email to all new members, and from what I understand, the default phpBB softwar...

Re: Accelerated Mobile Page for phpBB

I see AMP results a lot more these days. I don't know why anyone would say it seems to have no benefit to phpBB. AMP results load LIGHTENING fast, so hopefully there is a way to get it working on phpBB sometime.

I wasn't spoon fed help, he made me work hard from what I can remember! "give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime" ;) Indeed, it has helped me in many ways Oh and hi Rich :) Yep, I couldn't agree more! So glad for this community and the help ...

Re: New Members Stay Away (Google Doesn't Index Enough)

Thx allot Macko! Yeah I know a week isn't much at all and I understand it takes time. I've posted and talked about my site on different community's already such as Facebook, I've made an Instagram account with it where my URL appears with every post and in signatures on other forums. But as you say...

Re: New Members Stay Away (Google Doesn't Index Enough)

Hi LowNoise. I love phpBB, but I do think it does forum owners no favors as far as SEO goes. I personally wish whoever was in charge of rolling out later versions of phpBB would seriously consider that most forum owners want to be found on Google, and to put a lot more effort into making the softwar...

Re: When did you start your website?

May of 2014. A little over 220,000 posts and almost 17,000 topics. Almost 6,000 members (but that includes a bunch of non-active members or bots, I don't know) and we get at least 50,000 unique visitors and 500,000 pageviews per month, although those numbers look to be closer to 60,000 and 600,000 l...

Re: nginx and mod_security

We're on shared hosting, and it has been suggested that we switch from Apache to Nginx, but I'm hesitant. Anyone else have any pros cons for Apache vs Nginx? you can't switch to nginx if you are on shared hosting! the hosting provider would have to do it for the whole server and not just you! Haha,...

Re: Moderator Approval

We can't fix your car without looking under the hood. KevC probably wouldn't have 14 years of tenure and over 65,000 posts if he abused the credentials he needs to help. But suit yourself. ^That. I'd say he's about 1000X more trustworthy than any random developer you could find to look into it for ...

Should it be a top priority to get updated to PHP 7 , and if so, what are the major improvements, in laymen's terms if you can??
More speed so for me was it a top priority
Excellent, thank you very much. Sounds like it should be a top priority for us as well!

Re: [phpBB 3.2.1] Switching my server from PHP 5.6 to PHP 7 results in a 503 error

Sorry if this isn't the best place to ask, but my forum (currently on 3.2 and being updated to 3.2.1 tomorrow, if all goes well) is on PHP 5.6 . Should it be a top priority to get updated to PHP 7, and if so, what are the major improvements, in laymen's terms if you can??

Thanks for helping.

Re: [Alpha] H1 Header Link

Is this still needed, if you want to improve SEO, or is this already included in the latest 3.2? I find it very strange that phpBB doesn't build a lot of this into their core software, as it seems it would be easy to implement, and who DOESN'T want to have their pages set up automatically for SEO's ...

Re: Running 3.2 & just switched over to HTTPS but seem to have an issue...

On a board I'm developing, adding these 3 lines to .htaccess did the trick for me, forces your forum to use https: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on RewriteRule .* https://YOURURL.COM%{REQUEST_URI} [R,L] If you want the $5 of Bitcoin (just for fun), let me know! I appreciate the responses!
