Re: Basic procedure to create forum

phpBB provides the software for free from the download page, you would need hosting to run it and this is a service we do not provide. For a site with light traffic most $5 to $10 a month basic hosting packages will suffice. We do not make recommendations for hosts but you can try http://www.webhost...

Re: "Your Posts" search fails with Sphinx Backend

Is that on page error or from sphinx error log? The error log may provide some more information. You can enable the sphinx search error log by adding a path for it in the config file. If I recall correctly it's blank on the generated config file. You may also want to post the config file.

I've checked the error log and there is nothing there.
Just to be clear so I'm not misunderstood I said the phpBB error log.

Re: Error: The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again.

I have an update: I've logged in at work from Macbook and it's working! I am really confused now. The browser is Chrome, same as at my personal computer. So is it an extension in the browser? Ad block? I will try to look into it when I get back home. On the other computer try the delete cookie link...

Re: images not showing in post

Lumpy, need a link to the page it won't load on. If you want to look at yourself there is header that can be set both at server level or on Cloudflare that will tell the browser all content must be over https. https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/204183088-Understanding-HSTS-HTTP-Strict-...

My server log when trying to send an email :
That is from the access log, you need to look at the error log.

Re: Sending emails from my phpBB board fails

Check the server log, it should be available from the hosting control panel.

Re: Inactive User Profile Link (3.1.9)

FYI: I had first tried using a full backup into the 3.19 installation, but that did not provide an operational forum. The database version has match the version of phpBB files you are using. Part of the upgrade process is upgrading the database to current version, changes to the database between ve...

Re: Why doesn't Google see my site description?

There is no guarantee what Google or other SE's will display for the snippet of text in search results however they will typically use the meta description between the head tags, this is not the same as the description you set in phpBB's control panel. If none is provided they will use on page conte...

Re: Users dont get email when registering account

can you tell me exactly what to tell to my host? The SPF record is part of your DNS records so it depends on where the DNS records are hosted. If the domain registration is through your web host contact them. If the domain registration is through someone else do a whois lookup to see who is hosting...

Re: Users dont get email when registering account

Retest using the email sent from phpBB as suggested but it appears the SPF record appears to be wrong. With a correct record it will improve deliveralibilty, an incorrect record will cause email to get dropped because that is the purpose of the record. You are better off with no record than incorrec...

Those types of installation are not supported here as they use some modified files.
That is not necessarily true however support can be problematic or sporadic for those intallations.

Re: Inactive User Profile Link (3.1.9)

- I used the cpanel installation tool to install phpbb version 3.1.9. - I then wrote a custom script to restore from specific tables using the backup into the newly installed database. That version is out of date and no longer supported here. Many tables are interconnected so you can't just simply ...

Re: Meta Description?

Correct, you would put it between the <head> tags. However this is going to put the same description on every page. Descriptions should be unique or none at all. This will work better because it's dynamic. <meta name="description" content="<!-- IF S_INDEX -->{SITE_DESCRIPTION}<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF S...

Re: Updated from 3.2.6 to 3.2.7 problem logging in from the home page

go ahead and clear the cloudfare cache anyway. then using your ftp, delete everything from your cache folder except the index and htaccess files. then refresh your browser. I just spent an hour trying to figure out why edits to a template would not work and it turned out to be that useless cloudfar...
