My attempts so far have had me running in broken circles.
Browsers cache a 301 redirect, whenever you are implementing one leave out the:

Code: Select all

R=301
Once you have tested it and know it;s working properly then add it.

Try what </Solidjeuh> posted and then deal with the .net to .org redirect.

Re: Aliens, UFOs, and the paranormal

I try to look at things logically, given the vastness of the Universe and it's age whether other life exists, has existed or will exist is very likely yes. The primary issue in determining that is the distance. Even within our galaxy if a another life form were able to travel at the speed of light t...

Re: tif attachments - "Error parsing server response."

Paul as test you might want to try uploading the file here, you can delete before posting it if you prefer. Have you tried other random .tif files from another source?

Re: How to watch a user?

Not really ideal but if I suspect someone is spammer and has the intention of adding spam signature or whatever I have a sticky in the moderator forum with links to profiles. I'll go through the older entries to see if they are still behaving and either remove them from the list or ban the user acco...

Re: Aliens, UFOs, and the paranormal

Here is one of your UFO's: https://public-media.si-cdn.com/filer/SR-71-631.jpg Thank you Kelly Johnson and the Skunk Works. It should come as no surprise that UFO sightings proliferated as the US started developing technology like the SR-71 with capabilities that even those in the industry would dee...

Re: Does Normal WordPress hosting works with PHPBB?

Incidentally, 'Wordpress Hosting' is just a package name your host has come up with. Not necessarily. ;) The server may be optimized for Wordpress installations and if a host wanted to limit it to just Wordpress installs there is a lot of other things you can do to increase performance such as sing...

Re: May I Please Have My Paragraph Spaces Back? :D

You can make it whatever you want, this is short hand version for top, right, bottom and left margins in that order. This gives you margin of 10px top and bottom. margin: 10px 0 10px 0; Note the 0 margin gets no "px" You could also use em and it's preferable in most cases, 1 em would give you margin...

Re: May I Please Have My Paragraph Spaces Back? :D

I have the margin-bottom set up as built, earlier, and it doesn't work. Note that CSS files are cached by the browser and changes will not occur until the edited files are reloaded. Alternatively hold ctrl and press f-5. You can check what css rules are being applied to an element by right clicking...

Re: May I Please Have My Paragraph Spaces Back? :D

I don't know what mechanism within phpBB decided to turn the line breaks outside of the [list] into <br> tags for HTML to render, or why it decided to not do the same thing with line breaks that existed inside the [list] . Sounds like textparser stuff that is above my pay grade. Technically speakin...

On line 381 of content.css find:

Code: Select all

.content li {
    list-style-type: inherit;
}
Change to:

Code: Select all

.content li {
    list-style-type: inherit;
    margin-bottom: 5px;

Re: Backing up for a move

You need access to the database so you can export it. If you can do that then everything else should be quite easy. These free forum hosts usually restrict or outright prevent you from doing that. First check in the ACP on the maintenance tab. On the left hand side is there a link for backup? If the...

Re: Make new posts available to guests

Maybe it's worth a try to set "Enable topic marking for guests" to yes: screen69.jpg (ACP -> Server configuration -> Load Settings) It is mentioned for read/unread information, so you can use the "searchid=unreadpost" and maybe also the "newpost" I've used that in the past and if I recall it caused...

Re: Make new posts available to guests

New posts are only available to tracked users, e.g registered ones. There is setting for the session length which I believe by default is 1 hour. If registered user keeps viewing the forum before the hour expires the "new posts" would continue to grow. Once they do not view anything for one hour it'...

Re: [Split] Default font resize

Those files will be cached by the browser so anyone that does not reload them will still be seeing same issue. You can force reload by editing sylesheet.css Find: @import url("common.css?v=3.2"); change to: @import url("common.css?v=3.2.1"); Doesn't matter what you change it to as long as it's diffe...
