Re: Login in Box and User Nav on non phpBB pages

I don't know if it will be misleading or not, since phpBB has put up documentation. http://www.phpbb.com/mods/documentation/ There is a lot of information on how to use/modify the code. I used this documentation to get a login box on a non-phpbb page on one of my testing sites. The code might change...

Re: Board logo

Thanks, I was wondering where the dimensions were located.
Don't worry, Olympus is on my home pc, just playing around with it, not in a live environment. Just trying to get ready for when I can use it live.

Re: Board logo

Ok, but in overall_header.html the path to the image is {SITE_LOGO_IMG}. Apparently, this has the dimensions of the image. I would like to use a different size logo, but I can't seem to find where this variable is located so that I can change the height and width. Of course, I could just do it in th...

I just open phpmyadmin, then do a search, in your case, mysite.org and edit what is found to mysite.net. This has worked for me.

Disable Usergroup Add emails

Is there a way to disable the email that is sent when adding someone to a usergroup? The reason for this is that I am using phpBB for an address book. Only certain members will be added to the address book. I am testing this on my test server and I have to add about 100 people. I don't want them to ...

infamy: it's quite simple if you read the guide , you basically set the name in templates to whatever you want so say noobarmy. then display type ( when editing profile ) to TPL variable, if you then wish to handle the field yourself switch handle field off. then in the template add your tpl stuff....

What do you mean that phpBB2 does not officially support php5? Where does it say that? The requirements are: PHP (4.0.3 and above) with support for the database you intend to use above It doesn't say 4.xx only and nothing about php3. There is code in phpBB2 for php5. I might be missing something, b...

Well, that would depend on where you want it and how you want to do it. What I have kind of done is to edit the /templates/{theme}/overall_header.tpl and overall_footer.tpl files.

From that article: he default version of phpBB made available by phpBB Group includes copyright notice in the footer of the default subSilver styles. This includes the version number and a link back to phpBB.com. I think someone needs to edit that, since the version number is no longer in the footer...

I would hope not. You want it so that someone could type in some script and execute it? That would be a serious security flaw.

Yes, you can collect info at registration, but you will need to mod the board. You can also set it up as you like, so that only you can see the info or a certain group, etc.
This feature is in the beta for the next version though.

Yes, if you are going to use the code changes (recommended since you have a lot of mods). If you just use the changed files, there are seperate zip files to upload from different versions. What I do is keep a text file with all the mods I have made and what files were affected. Now, if an update com...
