It won't work on another server, if you include 'http://yourserver.com/forum/config.php'; it will either simply be denied or produce blank output, because all that file does is set up some variables. On shared hosting, it can be a risk, but usually there are water-tight security restrictions between...

A) this shouldn't be in discussion, so I the thread will probably be moved. B) if it has happened once and you don't change anything, it will happen again! C) If you want to restore, you need to edit your DB directly. Backup your database before you do all this, and it is pretty advanced. The table ...

I dont see why ppl should profit from other ppls effort pentapenguin and much effort is put into phpbb with no profit, so my point has everything to do with the software as the software is the base for him to make money from It just doesn't work like that. The father of the GNU license himself says...

Yeah, that's really s#@^. Most guitarists will get their start from tab sheets, and most will get it from the internet. They're just hurting their grass roots. As for lyrics, it's ridiculous. Who can rip them off from this? They're just hurting pub singers who can't work out certain lines. It's craz...

Yeah, all phpBB versions prior to 2.0.15 (if memory serves correctly) are vulnerable to the Santy Worm--you should upgrade to 2.0.18 when you reinstall, and learn to upgrade! If your post data is toast you should probably just start afresh, because as the previous poster pointed out, if it isn't jus...

Firstly, you'll need phpBB to be at the root of your server. On Apache servers index.php will almost certainly be recognised as the index file. If not, you can make it so with a .htaccess file, someone can tell you how to do it if you have Apache. On IIS server or something else, you'll have to set ...

Path disclosure bug on MySQL connection error

I'm not sure where to report bugs, but I've noticed a lot of effort has gone in recently to suppress all possible server path disclosures. Here's what happened, with our shared server path edited out: Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/tmp/mysql.sock' ...

Yep, I've got the "Guest Confirmation" mod installed now, and it works, and we'll probably open up more forums to guest posting, and hope it is effective.

Just to reiterate, the Visual Confirmation for Guests mod is at:

I Found it.

Many thanks, I'll test it and see how it goes.

D'oh, one of the other admins got to it and deleted it, I'm not sure if he got the IP. I guess that's the obvious solution, except we've had some in the past that came from multiple IP addresses.

Robot posts in guest allowed forum

We've disabled guest posting, because the content is unacceptable. All I want to know is if people have seen this form of post before, is it a current issue that is flaring, or is it something that comes around every now and again. The form is (nothing explicit here!): ------------------------------...

Another way to reduce bandwidth is to move the CSS stylesheet to a linked file. I believe its pretty simple for subSilver: Open templates/subSilver/overall_header.tpl Find <!-- link rel="stylesheet" href="templates/subSilver/{T_HEAD_STYLESHEET}" type="text/css" --> Change to <link rel="stylesheet" h...

Re: Upgraded 2.0.11 to 2.0.12

I ran the update_to_latest file, and all went well, but after I deleted the contrib and install folders I get a critical error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: realdate() in /hsphere/local/home/jenz68/douglasadams.se/forum/index.php on line 269 Could be a birthday mod acting up, but not su...
