I should mention that my board has been up for 2 years now, and has never had this issue. It makes me wonder if something else has happened to cause all these mysql connections.

Is there anyway I can get access to do that? All I have is FTP and cPanel access.

Re: Warning: mysql_connect() Too many connections

In "MySQL Account Maintenance", in cPanel, the database checks out fine, with "OK"'s for everything.

how to test php on the server / test for viruses

My forums are not working.

Is there a way to test php, itself, on my server to ensure that it's not php failing?

Is there a way to virus test the server for possible viruses that would harm phpbb?

Re: slow loading problems on my forum (only on certain pages)

Potential Issue: Is there a way I can test my server to ensure my php is running properly? Perhaps the server has a php problem?

slow loading problems on my forum (only on certain pages)

( Continuing the topic that I started here (now locked): http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=27182 ) I have reinstalled my forums (by saving the config.php file, re-uploading all the phpbb 2.0.22 files, and restoring my config.php file), and the problems STILL occur: The forum loads, I can...

I blocked "*@mail.ru" and I just received spam from a bot signup with an XXXXXX@mail.ru email address!

How is this possible?

Would the bot change the email address after the fact, to avoid the original email address from being banned? Or am I missing something simple here?

How do you know this? Does ban control notify you (or can it be made to notify you) when an user is blocked?

Thanks for the advice in this thread.

Is there a way for ban control to notify you when an attempt was blocked via the ban control?

Re: How to fix the problem.

I agree with the (long ago) posted idea of using "nofollow". I know it will not prevent spam completely, but it will diminish it a bit eventually, and most importantly it will stop the "bleeding" of my pagerank to spammers. I was unsure of where else to post this suggestion, as it is partially for s...

Is there any way I can temporarily configure my Windows XP to load the IP address the site is hosted at now when phpbb tries to access it at the old IP address? I know I can use the "hosts" file to point a domain to any IP I want, can I do the same for an IP? Can I point an IP to any IP I want, simi...

Thanks. I'll check out the knowledge base article you linked to.

The IP is now constant. It was due to a server move, and it should not affect the site again. I intend on setting up phpbb to the domain name now, as it should have been before.

board configured to (wrong) IP address, not domain name

I'm trying to help out a friend. His phpbb board is configured to an IP address, not the domain name. The IP address of the site has CHANGED, and now we have login problems. "login.php" tries to access the old IP address, but it actually logs us in. (It is just the page it forwards to after the logi...
