Re: PHP7 and the preg_replace problem

Make sure you're actually reading the error messages to get a clue on the cause - just counting them is no help for anyone. http://hurr.org/i/phpbb_preg_replace_callback.png [phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file [ROOT]/includes/bbcode.php on line 494: preg_replace(): The /e modifier is no longer suppo...

Re: PHP7 and the preg_replace problem

Unfortunately that's giving the same error. And while that code is sort of readable at a glance, line 494 isn't, and I'm getting alot more errors from it: $tpl = preg_replace('/{L_([A-Z0-9_]+)}/e', "(!empty(\$user->lang['\$1'])) ? \$user->lang['\$1'] : ucwords(strtolower(str_replace('_', ' ', '...

Re: PHP7 and the preg_replace problem

As an experiment we decided to trial PHP7 on one of the servers and saw a large performance improvement, but obviously the preg_replace issue everyhone else here has reported. We spent the next day patching every occurance of preg_replace with the 'e' modifier to use preg_replace_callback with Clos...

Re: Do you use paid forum posters? (Please let not any site)

Could not get this.... is this some kind of mocking??? Probably. Since that would disable your forum I assume it's about the same as telling you you don't deserve a forum. And I completely agree with that. If I manage at all to find out (not that I dig and search for signs) that the host of ...

What about memes?
Dancing baby, All your base, Hamster Dance, O RLY?, Badger badger badger, Peanut butter jelly time, Leeroy Jenkins...

Everyone here should recognize at least a couple of those.

Re: No operations for smokers!

I'd also like to point out that here in Canada, I saw an employee of a hospital, smoking, while wearing uniform, right outside the main entrance. What's your point? What the employee does on his breaks is entirely his concern . "Wow, an employee of a hospital is smoking! It must be good for me...

Re: No operations for smokers!

I believe that smokers should still be able to get surgery and treatment, but should have to pay more. By smoking they are just proving that they have the money to waste anyway.. Although I would accept it if they were denied surgery, because smoking proves that they are quite fine with being unheal...

Re: Why do hosting companies have hot babes in their ads?

Yeah, I am familiar with what a host file is, I was not sure to your reference to downloading it. Is your host file have the spybot host file edits on them also? I love that thing :D You made it seem as though you had absolutely no idea what a hosts file was, calling it a "file block".. N...

Re: Why do hosting companies have hot babes in their ads?

I am not exactly sure what you mean by the file block, unless you mean that ad block thing that is on your website. I must say, a most unusual way that I have ever seen a website created. Your navigation is most certainly not anything of the norm. oh my word, tribes!! Tribes is the very first MMOG ...

Re: Why do hosting companies have hot babes in their ads?

There's a very very simple term for summing up this entire thread that I hear used alot, but hasn't been used here yet.. So I think I'll point it out: 'sex sells'. I actually click on no banners. I detest ads to the fullest extent, because how they are used, spam, and everything else that violates m...

Re: Your Opinion on Vista?

doesnt microsoft have to certify drivers and applications? In order to get the "Certified for Windows Vista" logo, yes, they do. Or rather, third party developers and testers which Microsoft has contracted do this. That still doesn't explain the lack of drivers or the fact that very view ...

Re: Linux

If I remember, MS Virtual PC doesn't support correctly the Linux distributions. It's not Virtual PC that doesn't support Linux, it's that Linux doesn't support Virtual PC. Specifically, it is the dropped PS/2 mouse support (which was rather recent and ignorant of them -- alot of distros did it appa...

Re: Go PHP5

I take the opinion that IE7 is a security update and should replace IE6 as fast as possible IMO. Not all of us can switch from IE6 to IE7. There are alot of people, like me, who still use versions of Windows older than XP, particularly Windows 2000. Also, don't forget, Microsoft is still making sec...

Re: Go PHP5

Go PHP5 sounds like a good idea. I don't think PMA will die if it doesn't catch on -- hosts will just use older versions until a cool new feature piques their interest, it's no big deal. And for the styles team: Stop supporting IE6. Stop bothering to check whether standards-compliant CSS renders pr...
