Re: Getting traffic to your forum...any suggestions?

I'm trying to build backlinks right now. It's very difficult to get people to respond, although when they do they're usually willing to help. It's just getting them to actually read the email in the first place. Couldn't agree more about Twitter. I think I've given them more publicity that they've ...

Re: Strange caching problem

My site has been behaving itself today as well, knock on wood. No compensation as of yet. Charles, you left me hanging bro. Not cool.

Re: Strange caching problem

These people need to get out of the hosting business and into the mushroom farming business.

My site has been working okay since last night. As far as I can tell, it's back to normal. Fingers crossed...

Re: Strange caching problem

Clearly I am not phrasing this correctly as it's being quoted and completely misinterpreted. I have split off the posts that are unrelated to the problem at hand. I will make this as simple and short as possible: I am not saying you cannot post here about your current problem. I am not saying take ...

Re: Strange caching problem

To JimA, please allow us to post and vent here for a while, and when this issue is over you can delete the whole thread. Thanks. This is a support forum, nothing more. If you have an issue with how the host operates, you need to contact them. Venting it here achieves nothing and has the potential t...

Re: Strange caching problem

My site is still experiencing the full issues. It was fixed for a while, but now it's back into full bore caching hell. Again, this is immediately after experiencing those errors. 1040 and gateway 502. So I'm going on 72 hours now. :x

Re: Strange caching problem

Okay, now I'm back to the full blown cache apocalypse. Obviously somebody at HG is working today because they're wreaking havoc on my site. And obviously they're too busy to come drop us a line here to keep us informed...

Re: Strange caching problem

Please keep in mind that this is a phpBB support forum, people. If you're having specific problems with the customer service from Hostgator, this is not the place to complain about that. I'm fine with you guys helping each other out with issues that seem to come as a result of their server environm...

Re: Strange caching problem

Nah...Most people only stay on your forum for a few minutes...Keeping track of them for an hour is just trying to bloat the numbers to make the forums look busier if you ask me. The only negative side effect is that your forum is more likely to look less active because your numbers will be lower as...

Re: Strange caching problem

After waiting for 40 minutes, and AGAIN waiting for Taylor to decide to chat with me: Taylor A Can you please provide the steps that would allow me to replicate and see an error? 12:15:29 PM System Seems like your browser is having trouble talking to our chat system. This chat session has ended, bu...

Re: Strange caching problem

One thing I did learn that helped was in the load settings of your forum, Where it has options for how long to display people online. It defaults for 60 minutes. The lower you set this, The more people your forum will hold before it crashes..Sounds fishy but over the years its been the facts of the...

Re: Strange caching problem

The 500 errors are horrible if you're using a shared Environment...Well if you have a popular site or if one of your account neighbors site is busy...I can bring my site down any time I want by sending too much traffic to it. On my phpBB forum, Around 600-700 users will cause the site to crash and ...

Re: Strange caching problem

Glad I wasn't the only one having problems after the issue was supposed to have been fixed. Guys, I don't mean to be a negative nancy, but Charles is blowing smoke up our hindquarters. He's just giving us the standard HostGator song and dance routine IMHO. The only reason he's here is to do damage c...

Re: Strange caching problem

And yea, my site still isn't working. Even after clearing the cache. ETA: Okay, it seems to be working now, after like 5 minutes or so. Maybe it just a few minutes for everything to take effect? Doesn't make sense to me, but whatever.... And yet again, how do you plan on compensating affected custo...
