Pattern Matching - Parsing tpls

I'm working on a little side-project which essentially runs alongside phpbb ... but i'm wanting it so it'll also work alone without it ... Just one thing i'm stuck with - how can I take a *.TPL, then parse it for: <!-- START this_part --> {Display_something_instead_of_this_tag} <!-- END this_part --...

Can't inject user data to database through "register&qu

For some reason, when a user is registering, phpbb coughs up this error:- Could not insert data into users table DEBUG MODE INSERT INTO phpbb_users (user_id, username, user_regdate, user_password, user_email, user_icq, user_website, user_occ, user_from, user_interests, user_sig, user_sig_bbcode_uid,...

Hiding a forum on a database value

Hi ... I need to have more control over who can view specific forums. I would like it to be based upon age, rather than groups. I have already coded the part which takes in and saves the user's birthday. Now, in the database, there is a binary value in the "phpbb_forums" table column labelled "view"...

I havn't a clue ... it's a toughie ... i can't get into the thing directly, it just redirects me to my index ... that's one thing i don't like about how the ACP is built up ... for some reason, if there is an er...

Nevermind ... fixed it ... T'was just me being dumb with Wordpad's "find" feature ... I was searching for "bbcode" ... Wordpad selects the word in question ... it came to a point where the word in question was offscreen, i scrolled and pressed enter ... not realizing what i'd done, i'd deleted 'bbco...

update on that ...

different users generate different codes at the end ...

to me it looks like part of an MD5 checksum ... or maybe a user SID ...

it's got me stumped

[UPDATE]

Yes, it definately is the first few characters of the user SID ... i wonder why it's doing that ...

[/UPDATE]

here's an interesting one ... bbcode parsing incorrectly

At least, i think that's what it's doing ... here's what's happening ... if bbcode enabled and there is bbcode on the post, instead of removing the tags and applying the change, it does something like this ... [ color=darkred:aoa778863f][ /color:aoa778863f] but if bbcode is disabled, it'll just leav...

login works great ... how about Private Message numbers?

okay ... right ... yesterday i wanted to know how to login from a custom index page ... that works beautifully ... right ... now, when the user logs in, there is a status bar with the number of new forum posts, and the number of new PMs ... i got the forum post number by running that mod, then grabb...

okay ... found it rather easy ... in "login.php" ... simply look for every occurance of "index.$phpEx" ... just change those to whichever page you wish to be your "first" page after login ... my web directory structure is like this http://www.mywebsite.com/forum/index.php - phpbb forum index http://...
