Re: Discuss: phpBB to ship with VigLink extension

And how strange... The Get Involved page doesn't seem to have any mention of providing monetary support to phpBB. Is there a reason for that? Is phpBB a non-profit? I don't see anything about that in a front-and-center location.... If it is, then that could provide tax advantages to donors, at least...

Re: Discuss: phpBB to ship with VigLink extension

Has the phpBB team considered offering a choice of several different support options to board admins when installing/upgrading phpBB? For example: (A) Please help support phpBB with a PayPal donation. (B) Please help support phpBB by enabling VigLink. (C) Please help support phpBB by allowing a dona...

No worries dude! I'm thankful for the feedback from the community, very helpful.

And BTW: To those who are in-the-trenches : You rock! Few acknowledgements and little recognition... But your work makes a difference, all over the world.

Re: Do vimeo/youtube BBCodes work after 3.1.2 upgrade?

*phew!!!*

moment-of-panic...

But I'll make sure to record the details of all the BBCodes, just in case there's a problem during the database upgrade step.

Thanks Robert!

Re: Do vimeo/youtube BBCodes work after 3.1.2 upgrade?

Sorry to be a bother.... I'm not talking about a MOD here. What we've done is define a couple of custom BBCodes, via the ACP, as supported by the (3.0.x) phpBB codebase itself. At the relevant admin page, there are these four fields: - BBCode Usage - HTML replacement - Help Line - Display on posting...

Re: [BETA] s9e/mediaembed - Embed videos and third-party content without a single BBCode

I really like the idea of this extension, and we'll most likely install it after the initial 3.1.x shake-out period. But a question: Suppose I have some BBCodes for a 3.0.12 forum which allow users to link to clips at Vimeo and YouTube. Not a MOD.... Rather, custom BBCodes that have been defined via...

Re: Do vimeo/youtube BBCodes work after 3.1.2 upgrade?

That's (at least initally) disappointing to hear Cryo.... But just to be sure : I have *zero*/zip/nada mods installed in my forum (so you might be able to imagine why I'm looking forward to 3.1.x so much, *smile*) . BBCode support for Vimeo and other sites was added solely via the ACP . So, just lik...

Do vimeo/youtube BBCodes work after 3.1.2 upgrade?

Hi! I've got a 3.0.12 forum that I'm planning to upgrade to 3.1.2 this weekend. *Really* hoping that I can proceed, as 3.1.x seems to be what I've been hoping for, for many years now. Our forum has posts which include BBCode-based links to content at Vimeo, YouTube, etc. So for example, ACP:Posting:...

Re: [Discuss] phpBB 3.1 "Ascraeus" to require PHP 5.3.3

Ack, sorry, ignore me. I see that the initial requirement was 5.3.2, but then that was amended to 5.3.3 . Apologies for the noise....

Re: [Discuss] phpBB 3.1 "Ascraeus" to require PHP 5.3.3

Hmmm...... So the Ascraeus blog post states that PHP 5.3.3 or better will be needed for 3.1.x : Please note that phpBB 3.1 has some requirements that differ from phpBB 3.0: PHP version 5.3.3 or greater PHP’s json extension Only PostgreSQL versions 8.3 and above are supported However, the very first ...

Re: Offical phpbb.com mobile app

a mobile-optimized board style built by the phpBB Team and included with the official phpBB software package is essential. Enthusiastically seconded! A mobile style (not an app) is a complete no-brainer, and the resources required are relatively small (compared to an app). It needs to be a part of ...

Re: phpBB Gallery

One folder to simplify the move of images. A completely flat directory structure for full- , medium- , and thumbnail-sized images will eventually become a problem for very large galleries. Have you considered a directory structure with sub-dirs whose names are the album ids ("1", "2", etc) of each ...

Re: BIGGGGG MISTAKE!!!!! :'(

Possibly not.... But I would suggest getting in touch with your web hosting provider anyway. You never know, maybe they do have some sort of backup policy that will help you out. Worth a try. As far as I know, if you delete a forum, and say "Yes" when the software asks "Are you sure?", then that for...

Re: BIGGGGG MISTAKE!!!!! :'(

Wow... If you deleted the entire forum from within the Admin Control Panel.... And if you have no backups... Then you may truly be f'd. That said, some web hosting providers perform backups of their clients' websites, including their databases (which is where most of your forum content resides), ind...

Re: phpBB Gallery

Is it possible to show the image description underneath the thumbnails? I don't think that's possible without template changes, however I've had some luck doing the following: - Provide a brief textual description of an image via the 'Imagename' field (rather than a filename, which is what is displ...
