Re: First forum you ever joined:

Tech Support Guy. My friend, Bassetman, may he rest in piece got tired of answering all the simple questions I posed to him. So, he sent me to a tech site, circa, 1999. I hung out there for many years in the general discussion area. And of course needed tech help every now and then. Still do.

PHPBB3 & Groupware Concepts

It has been four years since I left the hosting world. I had an old PHPBB 2.0.22 board that started as a 2.0.11 three years before then. I had no need to do this anymore. Until now. I seek advice on developing an easy platform. It must have the ability to organize and store material for the long ter...

Re: Mail Issue

Are the SMTP settings to the same host, or to another? Your host may have added new restrictions to stop spam. In particular, they may require the return address (which is the "Admin Email" setting in the ACP), to be an address on the same domain as your forum. in my board's configuration my server...

Re: Mail Issue

I would guess you are trying to use an SMTP server that is not on the same server as your forum, and it won't accept emails for anyone except users on that same server. Have you tried NOT using SMTP, or can you use an SMTP server on your forum's web server? Thanks for the response ric. This issue j...

Adding fields to registration/profile

I would like to be able to add multiple information fields to the registration process with that information also showing up in the personal profile of members. I have searched and have found a number of mods that either are in development, or, abandoned. But, I do believe there is something out the...

Re: Save posts as drafts

I added this mod to my phpBB 2.0.22 board. Wonderful mod BTW, and TY. I used it a number of times and it was working fine. But now, all of a sudden, the, "save post as draft" buttons no longer show up when drafting a post. The, "View your drafts and topics you have posted to" link appears on the in...

Re: Changing cellpic gifs

ty My intent is to simply clone 3-4 subsilver templates and add different color schemes to each one. This will allow my users some options in which to view the board. If I change the current cellpic.gif it will replace the standard subsilver cellpic. But then, that new cellpic will display in all my...

Changing cellpic gifs

I have cloned a subsilver template and am changing some base colors to update my board. I am interested in changing the category bars and the bar that announces the forums. How do I go about doing this? They are gifs, do I need to create my own? And if so, how? Is there a resource on the board I mis...

Re: [2.0.15] Longer Subjects

If you do not run the SQL scripts to extend the size of the database columns then there will be no place to store the new data. :-) You can (with MySQL) extend the subject fields up to 255 characters... so if you want, alter the SQL scripts to do that, then alter the form fields to just 130. That g...

Re: [2.0.15] Longer Subjects

I installed this wonderful mod last week. I set all the settings to 100. Now I feel a need to extend out to maybe 130 characters or so. According to the mod author notes I am able to do this. To do this, do I have to run the two new SQL scripts? Or, can I just mod the template values and it will wor...

Is there such a file within the phpBB system?

I have been reviewing the content of my e-mail messages automatically generated by my phpBB 2.0.22 board. I keep a word document as a log file whenever I add a mod or change something within the system. A number of years ago I also reviewed and changed the e-mail content from the standard text to te...

Changing colors of topics titles

Hi I would like to be able to change the color of topic titles. This is my application. In one particular forum, I want to set up a series of threads that will be stickied. I would like to be able to assign a different color to each one of those stickied topic threads. As an Admin, I would like to a...
