Re: Restoring backup - MySQL 5.7 to 8.0

Lumpy Burgertushie, Thanks. I'm waiting for phpBB 3.3.3 to release due to this . The type of website I have is my portfolio. It has my resume on it and all the fancy stuff employers would be interested in. The forums I have are dead, but I use it for personal reasons, mainly for documenting and arch...

Re: Restoring backup - MySQL 5.7 to 8.0

Over 80 views and 0 replies. Maybe no one here has ever done this before, or doesn't know the answer. I'll give it a bit more time. After which, I'll post this question in the Support Forum since I am asking for feedback regarding the compatibility between two different MySQL versions and a phpBB ba...

Restoring backup - MySQL 5.7 to 8.0

I have a vanilla installation of phpBB 3.3 with no add-ons and the default theme and language set. In the future I'm planning on making a backup through the ACP while running MySQL Community Server 5.7 with PHP 7.4 and phpBB 3.3.3 (or higher), then re-building my website from scratch using MySQL Com...

Re: Updating 3.3.x

Everyone is aware what needs to be fixed here. I gave specifics and have spent plenty of time carefully going over what was missed. Then came the "bumps" in this topic, and finally when I called out stevemaury for his mistakes only to be ignored by my responses directed at him, he tells me...

Re: Updating 3.3.x

Nothing keeping you from doing it. That's great, I'll do a little Support Team Member work for you. One problem remains: I don't see an Edit button or any way to change the pages here or here . All I've done so far is given suggestions and mentioned issues in phpBB. I don't have the experience of a...

[ticket/16538] Add MySQL 8 tests

This: https://github.com/phpbb/phpbb/pull/6014 It was originally intended to be applied for phpBB 3.3.2. Now I see it was moved to phpBB 3.3.3. This causes a delay for an upcoming website I was going to make using MySQL Community Server 8.0 for early next year. Why was it moved to phpBB 3.3.3 when i...

Re: Updating 3.3.x

I will take care of it. It has still not been properly taken care of yet I see, and phpBB 3.3.2 is coming out soon. If this doesn't get fixed, that could mean more issues and possibly an influx of people posting here asking for help. stevemaury is clearly not available or interested in applying the...

Are there any feature differences going straight to PHP 7.4 vs. PHP 7.3, besides a tiny bit more speed? What I mean is, does phpBB benefit from PHP 7.4 features in a way that PHP 7.3 does not provide by chance?
Bumping my question.

Steve, could you please take a look at my last post above in response to the new changes you made, and determine if any of my points need to be addressed? They may be applicable and important, but I'd prefer that you be the judge.

Thanks.

Re: Does phpBB violate PHP's license

Why are so many of you getting worked up over this simple question? It either violates a PHP license or it does not. Since phpBB has existed before those license conditions were made up, that would imply that phpBB is possibly exempt from those terms. But if not, then it would then imply that phpBB ...

Re: Is anyone gonna get the new "chameleon" style when it's released?

To get Chameleon also means getting phpBB 4.0 (Triton). They go together. I doubt proSilver will be compatible.

Will I use it? Hell yeah.

After speaking with Hanakin about a possible ACP re-design to go with it, he said it will not happen until phpBB 4.1 or so.
