Ok, first thing you're going to want to do is get your website to carry over sessions. Easiest way to do this, which is basically what the tutorial said, is to create a file (I called mine "sestrack.php" ) with this code in it: <?php define('IN_PHPBB', true); $phpbb_root_path = './phpBB2/'; include(...

do you use phpmyadmin? It shows up nicely there as ***_users, where *** would be whatever you decided to name your tables when you installed phpbb (it asked you...default is phpbb). I recently modified my website to incorperate exactly this. It's going to take a few parts. Lemme find my code, and I'...

but you then run into problems with dynamic IPs and broadband connections. IPs change frequently, so blocking single IPs isn't going to work. You can, however, block a range of IPs, but then you risk screwing over anyone else in that range. I dont know if it's possible to block the a**hole-factor of...

easy fix. Just put a user status check on the top of the problem pages (post new, reply, whatever) and have it redirect them to the login page if they're user status is "anonomous". Essentially, adapt this mod for whatever pages you need to protect: http://www.phpbb.com/files/mods/redirect_annonymou...

You really dont need a mod for this. There are forum permissions built into the admin control panel for each forum. Just set "delete" to admin-only for all places. As for this restore forum, you can make it so mods can move topics (since you already would have disabled their delete abilities), and h...

ok, i noticed that the echo from the userdata does indeed echo the person's username. However, it seems the echo from the profiledata doesn't do anything. And I think i just figured it out as I typed this. the profiledata is for retrieving information about anybody, while userdata is about the curre...

hmm. Seems like it could work. What would be the difference between echoing profiledata's username and userdata's username?

Yup, that did it. There was a little space that was throwing it off. :P Now, how exactly do I go about accessing the person's information, username, for example, from their session cookie or SID? And how, subsequently, do I use that to retrieve the user's other information and profile stuff, such as...

External Login and User Data Usage

Ok, i've searched around for a few days now, and read everything I could on the subject. I've seen many methods, each slightly different. I'm having some problems, and what was mentioned to fix it earlier in a mod doesn't seem to apply here. My goal is to allow users to log in on the main site, perh...
