Re: error posting images/adding remote avatars

The error comes (in my situation anyway) from not having remote fopens allowed by my host. phpBB3 uses a remote fopen to check the images dimensions so it can output the correct size. A snazzy feature, but I would like to find a way to disable this check and use the "old way" (phpBB2) of remote imag...

Re: Thanks SHS`

You may not remember me SHS`, but I remember you. I'm one of the countless people that you helped, both through your amazing work on the phpBB project, and personally on the forums. Not only did you help me learn the concepts behind phpBB and forum software, you certainly helped me learn PHP. This i...

That explains a few things...

Anyway, I looked around for another topic relating to the phpBB Halloween theme for this year, and couldn't find one. So I thought, should bump last years :).

Go to http://www.dnsstuff.com and type your domain name into the "DNS Timing" box. i.e. phpbb.com. If you get an error like this (Reports no A records), then it's a problem on your hosts side. If that's not the problem, Start > Run > cmd.exe A black box will come up. type in nslookup yourdomainhere....

What version of mysql are you using, and what version were you using when you backed up?

Sounds to me like you've downgraded it from 4.1.x to 4.0.x or lower.

Well, I doubt the two are related... But you never know. Have a look at the bans in your ACP. If anyone's banned, it should be in there. If there are bans there you havn't placed and there are no other admins on the forum who could do that, you might want too change your password/the mysql password....

Re: move to other server and db name

Just make sure you back up all of your files via FTP, and backup your mysql data too (you can do this from the ACP). Then on your new host, import the mysql stuff and upload the files. If you're going to be on the same domain name there shouldn't be any problem - just don't forget to update config.p...

It's doable, but it's very unsafe. HTML is disabled by default for a reason - people can use XSS (Cross Site Scripting) to steal the password hashes of your users if it's enabled. Are you just posting images constantly or do you want to put them on other places on the page? If you're just trying to ...

As you don't own the forum, you might not be able to do anything. Looks like either the username or password in config.php is wrong though. Double check their right. If you're positive they are, try creating a new user/pass WITH access to the phpBB database and changing the config.php variables to t...

If there's no backup function anywhere then it doesn't really sound possible. You'd have to start it up on phpBB from scratch. Sorry :<.

If it's 50mb, I'd upload it somewhere and ask your host to import it for you.

If you have shell access, it's as simple as running mysql -u user < backup.sql -p, but your average host doesn't give you that :).

Well it's not too hard to do yourself if you understand html well... However, it doesn't seem like you do. If you do however, try looking through templates/subSilver/overall_header.tpl. Otherwise, try this . You could also try one in the development section, but note that phpBB don't support them. /...
