To have both phpBB2 and phpBB3 running on the same server, install phpBB3 into a different folder from phpBB2. You can install into the same database as phpbB2 by using a different table prefix, or you can install into a newly created database. Wow -- I didn't see this in the docs with the package....

phpBB 2.0.23 will run on most PHP5 installations. (It's not guaranteed to run on all, phpBB3 was designed for PHP5 compatibility>) Sorry, I can't advise is the CPANEL transfer will have any problems. But if we migrate to phpbb v3, make sure it works in a php4 environment for a while, then move that...

Has anyone successfully migrated the v2.x board from php4/mysql3 to a leopard server running php5 and mysql 5.0.45 (current version as of 10.5.3)?

Or, am I better off upgrading the v2 installation on the current machine to v3.x, then moving the v3.x boards to the Leopard server?
