Re: Is it easier to upgrade yet?

Best advice on upgrading I can give is to document everything. Make a note of those special extra things that you need to remember to perform. Maybe you have a slight change to a htaccess file? Maybe you have added a one line change to a file for Google Adsense? Do you have a different logo that you...

Re: Notification emails containing http and sometimes https

Solve the redirect, and those other symptoms go away. Solved :D I must have overwritten the .htaccess when I updated to 3.2.9 All my test boards were suffering the same symptoms. I have a pretty detailed list of tasks that I perform for each update (DB backs ups etc) I failed to notice the task tit...

Re: Notification emails containing http and sometimes https

Thanks for taking the time to look at it.
Now that I think about it I am wondering if I’ve deleted the htaccess I had in place originally before upgrading to v3.2.9

Before the upgrade I don’t recall this happening.

Let me check.

Notification emails containing http and sometimes https

Currently running v3.2.9 (waiting for one extension to be updated before going to v3.3.0) I have SSL on the site and redirects in htaccess so that everything bounces over to https. This has been working fine for many many months. I also have the board set so that mods and myself must approve first p...

Re: query around PHP version required between phpbb v3.2 & v3.3

Actually phpBB 3.2.8 and 3.2.9 (perhaps even lower versions, memory fails me ATM) are compatible with php7.2 (which is sufficient for phpBB3.3). phpBB 3.2.2 was the first release to support PHP 7.2.x. Source: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2453381 P.S. Do not use PHP 7.3.x or ...

query around PHP version required between phpbb v3.2 & v3.3

From what I have read:

phpbb3.2.x has to have between PHP 5.4.0+ and PHP < 7.1
phpbb3.3 says "The minimum supported PHP version has been increased to PHP 7.1.3 "

Therefore if you migrate from v3.2.x to v3.3 you will also need to update php on your server?
Am I reading that correctly?

thanks

Thanks.

Re: Notifications table and how I think I have fixed my slowness issue

Thanks for the detailed response, but excuse my ignorance.....late at night etc.....some questions: If I want to use phpbb built-in Cron Jobs, Do I set " Run periodic tasks from system cron: " to Yes or No ? Do I still need to perform the following DB update to allow the Cron Job to perform when a p...

Re: Notifications table and how I think I have fixed my slowness issue

Thanks. Shame i hasn’t seen this even after searching! Anyway, looking at the post, I am still confused. I am going to guess that the Cron job never runs, hence the build up, but the setting below I have it set to No. should that not mean that phpbb will sort out the periodic tasks for me?? Run peri...

Notifications table and how I think I have fixed my slowness issue

Per some of my previous posts, my site was loading fine and navigating was fine also. However on occasions, posting a reply or new Topic could take up to 30 secs to complete. After putting Debug & Debug Extra on in the config.php file, and also enabling Slow Queries in mysql for a period of time, I ...

Re: Debug - Debug Extra and what the output means.

There's a couple of suboptimal queries in phpBB that only become noticeable with a lot of content (> 1M posts.) Big forums typically run on bigger servers and the queries' impact is attenuated. I wonder if this is one of them then?? I have 1.1M posts, 25K users. I thought my server set up seemed to...

For what it's worth, I looked at my install and it didn't have one either.
surely other people with large volume of users on their sites would be experiencing something similiar?

Re: Debug - Debug Extra and what the output means.

If you're confident enough in your ability to alter your database then yes, you can create it via phpMyAdmin or your favourite SQL client. That's what I would do. If it takes 10 seconds to query it will probably take a minute to create. Thanks Joshy, before I do that, I am going to install a fresh ...

If the query time is high, the Rows_examined part will probably be very high and it will mean that the table lacks an index on item_parent_id.
I looked at the notifications table and the item_parent_id is not an Index.
Should it be?
Can I just make a change to the DB to make it an Index?
