Re: The New Wiki Sucks

Well no, I can't fix links like this, from the official phpBB blog : http://wiki.phpbb.com/Request_var Those are now permanently broken until someone that is part of phpBB.com's team adjusts the redirection/naming convention. You guys are probably losing quite a bit of search traffic with all those ...

The New Wiki Sucks

The new wiki (the old one was using Mediawiki, looks like the new one is Redmine) has broken all old links and is missing quite a bit of data.

How can we access the old wiki and documentation? It worked better, had cleaner (and easier to link to) URLs.

Re: Cant Store stylesheet in FileSystem

I'd like to do this for performance reasons. How can we convert the prosilver stylesheets to a static file? Dynamic stylesheets is generally a very bad idea, even when caching is enabled. We're considering various options of serving static (!) content like images, scripts, and stylesheets via a CDN ...

Re: [BETA] Simple user achievements 0.0.2

Some key things that are necessary before this MOD will go mainstream: - Easier configuration of achievements. Definitely needs to be easier to add/remove achievements by editing ONE file, or updating ONE table. - Support for permanent achievements. Once you have reached a "goal", it should be perma...

Re: Future support for Link Canonical (meta) tag?

I've implemented this on a limited basis for topics, it's fairly straightforward. In the overall_header.html file for your particular template, put this in the <head> of your document: <!-- IF U_VIEW_TOPIC --><link rel="canonical" href="{U_VIEW_TOPIC}" /><!-- ENDIF --> I am using this with great suc...

Re: [RC1] phpBBFolk - Topic tagging system

If anyone actually read through the topic before replying, they would find a repaired ZIP that works.

Also, stop repeating the same question over and over ("Is it dead?"). The MOD author will respond when he has time. Unless you have something useful to add to the thread, don't reply.

Re: PM Resync

If there isn't anyone who has developed something like this, maybe a developer can point me in the right direction so that I might be able to start writing my own?

PM Resync

On one of the forums I manage, an adminsitrator manually deleted a PM from the database (a user PM'd all 5,000 registered members) which caused a "Ghost PM" to appear in the system. User "Unread Private Messages" count is stuck at "1", but there are no private messages. Does anyone have a PM resync ...

Re: [RC1] phpBBFolk - Topic tagging system

Using a hex editor, I was successfully able to repair the zip file.

You can access it here: http://www.ericmartindale.com/code/phpB ... 1.0.0a.zip

Thanks for continuing to work on this, this is the single best MOD for phpBB3 that hasn't been finished yet. I look forward to seeing it completed!

Re: Making phpBB3 Mobile Compatible

His screenshots are completely dependent upon his device. If a user uses Opera or any modern mobile browser, they should be able to access the regular version just fine - just like his screenshots show.

The changes in question would be for devices that do not support standard CSS or page-level zoom.

phpBB3 Performance Tuning: Apache + MySQL

What is the best environment for extremely large phpBB3 forums? InnoDB tables or MyISAM tables? Fulltext indexing (only available in MyISAM!) or native? What load settings should I be looking at? What tables should be indexed, and on what columns? How should xcache / acm modules be configured? What ...

Topic Tagging

Since "web 2.0" really came to the spotlight in 2003, many improvements to data organization on the net have been made. One of these improvements came in the form of "tags", where individual pages or blocks of content can be assigned short keywords by the community, describing what the content is ab...
