Re: Official email from phpbb support

If it isn't from *@phpbb.com then it isn't official.
Note that it's not hard to fake the sender address. You would be able to tell from a look at the e-mail headers, but at first sight it could appear authentic.

Contact Maël, who is in charge of translations, he should be familiar about the current status.

Re: Where to download Chinese Simplify Language Pack

Just recently I have contacted the last maintainer of the Chinese Simplified sciprt translation, but I haven't yet heard a response. Here is a link to the last version: http://www.phpbb.com/files/language_packs_30x/lang_zh_cmn_hans.zip and prosilver buttons: http://www.phpbb.com/files/language_packs...

Here's a tutorial to add a link: http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article/adding- ... ur-header/

To remove one, just find it in overall_header.html of your style and delete it.

Re: Updating language packs

If you do not have any custom modifications, it's easy. Just overwrite the old files with new ones. If you have some edits, like new language keys in common.php for a MOD or something you should be careful to not lose your changes. Find them, note them and paste them to the new files. Then again, ov...

Re: [Discuss] New language pack system

3Di, we've heard your opinion several times and proposed a way you could do something about it. Continuing to rant about it is pointless with you current attitude and takes up space which could be used for better purposes. Now back to Pony's question. Well technically I do not have a limit of what v...

Re: [Discuss] New language pack system

You're raising many what-ifs which have never appeared and I do not expect to see most of them appear in the future.

If in time such a situation comes, I'm sure I'll find a way to handle it.

Re: [Discuss] New language pack system

If, for example, Italian users are not satisfied with the quality of the translation, they should contact the translation maintainer. If that appears to be fruitless, they should contact the translator liaison (ameeck). That's reasonable, but what happens if the translator disagrees and won't fix t...

We've considered that at times.

The system we chose prefers consistency and completness of translations. By having one appointed maintainer and a policy to accept only finished language packs, we make sure those two criteria are met.

Am asking, as I am half way through an updated version, but will not complete if anyone else is on the job
We've had one, but it's long inactive, I've sent you a PM about how to continue.

The options are: - contact the responsible italian translator or member from the IST if their team is taking care of the translation - in case the team uses git or another VCS, submit a patch with your proposals - contact me and give me some examples you think are most noticable I haven't said all t...

Re: [Discuss] New language pack system

I admit it would be cool to speak 30+ languages, but unfortunately I am stuck at about four (not including programming languages). However I have a whole community which is able to contribute feedback to individual translations and make sure phpBB is correctly translated to the language they use. In...
