Re: How many hours to build a basic phpBB forum?

if I were to do it based on your requirements for just a plain vanilla forum with no extensions, etc, I'd probably charge $150-$200 flat rate. I do no frills installs for £20, it's only a case of setting up a MYSQL database, uploading phpBB to hosting, changing the permissions on 3 folders, hitting...

Re: A ‘sticky’ problem. What’s the answer?

Another idea is what I did in my Clean-Boardz style - the topic row background is a different colour for stickies, this can be done to any style by simply adding 3 lines of code to the CSS. :thumbsup: hmm, how come I never thought of that? Prosilver sort of helped me with the idea :D colours.css - ...

Re: Finally some good news!!

OMG: 2 and a half years ago, I was under the impression that the referendum wasn't legally binding but purely informative (as referendums usually are). Later on (don't know exactly when, nor by whom) I was told that the referendum was legally binding, and even though I doubted it, I blindly accepte...

Re: A ‘sticky’ problem. What’s the answer?

On my forum the only stickies are upcoming meets, I have a global for rules but thats it. Other announcements like site news etc are posted in an announcement forum. I don't think I've ever seen a forum with more than 4 stickies, however... I think there is an extension that seperates stickies like ...

Re: Create child not from Prosilver

I'm still getting my head around how phpBB handles all the details that can go with extensions. When you say inheritance saves extra folders for extensions, does this only apply for cases where you haven't edited the template in question? If the style doesn't use template inheritance, if you instal...

Re: Create child not from Prosilver

I orignally preffered my styles not to use inheritance, so that if any changes were made in phpBB updates I could keep abreast with them when updating the styles, the downpoint was for most extensions a seperate style folder would need to added to the extension to make it work... this is fine for ex...

Re: Try with different Fonts for mobile devices

You would add your font style sheet to the overall header.html Fjalla One Example: <link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Fjalla+One&display=swap" rel="stylesheet"> Then if you wanted to change the font of the topic title on the viewtopic page, there are 2 ways of doing it. Method 1 - T...

Re: V3.2 Remove Board Name From Topic Pages

I think the OP means the string in the browser next to the favourites icon... "Glossary Of Political Words and Slang - Democrats VS Republicans Forum" the last bit. Open the overall_header html file, on line 8 you will see <title> Remove this: <!-- IF S_VIEWTOPIC or S_VIEWFORUM --> - {SITENAME}<!-- ...

Re: Language For Styles / CSS Loading

That's true, you can overwrite or even delete code. But if you package everything in a css, create a real child, you have everything in a single file and see exactly what has been changed. Should be easier for upgrading to new phpbb versions. I will give that a try, I'm trying to make it clearer fo...

If your board has members who are under 30 - you get a lot of members asking for like buttons https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/extension/thanks_for_posts_2/ social logins https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/extension/social_login/ more modern smilies https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/styles/smili...

Re: phpBB; Major Version Release

I don’t think the majority of board users give a toss what board software is being used although, If your board has members who are under 30 - you get a lot of members asking for like buttons, social logins, more modern smilies, slide out lists and other stuff they've seen on FaceBook and other for...

Language For Styles / CSS Loading

I have 3 questions for anyone who may have the answers :D First question ... When creating an extension, you can add whatever language you want via the language folder... is there a similar way to add language to a style? Example: If I wanted to add a Time & Date sidebar, I can use {L_TIME} but 'Dat...

Re: [3.2][DEV] Dark Mode

Rather than all those edits for the Quick Reply Releaded extension to work with dark mode,
Go to: Aurelienazerty/darkMode/styles/all/theme and open: darkmode.css

Add this to the bottom:

Code: Select all

.darkmode .qr_fixed_form {
	position: sticky;
}
Save and upload.

Re: Finally some good news!!

Brexit has some advantages but staying in also has some advantages, there seems to be so much hate between Remainers and Leavers so regardless of if we end up staying or leaving... I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us ending up with violent protests on the streets like a few years ago in the Ukr...

Re: Having Trouble Adjusting Site Description In Theme

No problem, To put the logo on the left, you need to make these edits to the style sheet, Around line 201, find: .site-description { text-align: center; } Change it to: .site-description { float: left; width: 65%; } Around line 188, find: .logo { display: block; box-sizing: border-box; max-width: 10...
