Re: photos Attachments with watermark

I personally think it is a great idea for an extension and yours is a perfect use case. Other sites leeching images is precisely the reason I thought watermarking can be useful. The server-side solution will enable you to put the watermark on remote linked copies of the images but you could only use...

Re: photos Attachments with watermark

Watermarking images can be entirely appropriate as it prevents third parties from taking original content from your board without proper attribution to the original source. This is even more important now that Google Images allows users to download images on your board without them ever visiting the...

Re: speed question

PHP 7.3 and 7.4 are around 20% faster than PHP 7.1. There are some benchmarks here: https://kinsta.com/blog/php-benchmarks/ However in most page loads PHP execution times are around 100-200ms on 7.1 (with opcache enabled) so the advanatages are not going to perceptible. The single biggest improvemen...

It has too many social media sites and doesn't let you customize to only show the ones you want.
Yes it does! Go to the extensions tab in the ACP and go to ShareOn > Settings

You can select individual icons and can only select Twitter and Facebook if you want.

Re: What is the general consensus on Cloudflare with PHPBB

A good server can indeed be very fast without a CDN but you can't beat physics. The further away from the server your audience is, the slower it will get. This isn't a problem with a server located in the same country as most of your audience but it is if you host the site in a different country due...

Re: Plupload and Image Orientation Redux

You don't need to patch Plupload as phpbBB 3.2.7 has the latest version of Plupload already. However, you do need amend phpbb/plupload/plupload.php to add the flag preserve_headers: false . In phpBB 3.2.7 the change needs to be made at line 269 I think, which should read as follows: 'resize: {width:...

Re: Run Header Script for Certain User Groups

There is a lot of misinformation in the replies to this topic and the answer are, to be frank, quite unhelpful and do not address the actual question posted by the topic poster. 1. Google Auto Ad code is very different from a conventional Adsense ad unit. Contrary to the above posts, the code for Au...

Re: What is the general consensus on Cloudflare with PHPBB

There should be no debate about this really. Whatever problems people had setting up Cloudflare in the past are long gone. It is amazingly simple to set up, offers major security advantages even on the free tier, and drastically speeds up any phpBB forum. Any CDN will speed up a phpBB forum, but man...

Re: Mobile Friendly

In my opinion, it is the forum/section heading images on the main index page that is causing this issue. More specifically, I think it is the dimension of the images that is throwing out the page rendering. Viewing the page on my Samsung smartphone, the page renders normally (with no topic counts or...

Re: Mobile Friendly

To follow up on my earlier post, I just ran your board index page through the default Mobile Friendly Test and it looks like you have made changes to the default Prosilver style. It is not using the responsive view, as it is showing the number of posts, topics, last poster etc. In default prosilver,...

Re: Mobile Friendly

As per my previous post, in Google Search Console is it saying every URL has this error or just some? You have over 300,000 posts on your board and probably tens of thousands of pages in the Google index. If some of them are recognised as mobile-friendly, then your other pages are probably fine too....

Re: Mobile Friendly

If I click on the link for that, it says 1) the text is too small 2) the clickable elements are too close together This is a common problem. The issue is usually not phpBB, it's the Google crawler which occasionally produces random rendering issues. If you use the access as Google tool in Search Co...

Re: Email notifications not working

Your domain is listed on multiple spam blacklists. This is most likely because: 1. You do not have a SPF record setup for your domain. You need to set up SPF and DMARC records in your DNS settings. This will need to include Googe/G-Suite as a permitted sender if you are also using the email address ...
