Looking at this some more I see that it is not possible. The domain for my forum is forum.blahblah.com the domain for my main site is www.blahblah.com setting a cookie with the correct details in www.blahblah.com will not work for the forum.blahblah.com domain. JBoss's website has this working nicel...

Hi Beaver, I guess the problem isn't phpbb based. It is anything that is MD5 based. As an ex System admin for a big company I can assure you passwords can always be broken, the question is more how long will it take for it to be broken. Shane I had a similar problem where after login I was being redirected to an non existent page. Does your web host send 404's to another domain? $userdata['session_logged_in'] is set by $userdata = session_pagestart($user_ip, PAGE_FAQ); init_userprefs($userdata); a the start of everypage. So session_pagestart is defined in includes/session.php and init_userprefs in includes/functions.php I guess now I try to define how these work :)
