Topic: How Can I Configure New User Default Settings

Anyone know how to change the default settings for the things that aren't user changeable? Specifically I want to lock users out of Private messages, but allow our admin/moderators to send these. Gone through assorted files, with no luck. Not sett-able via editing the html because it doesn't show in...

Because, as mentioned above, you can't be baby-sitting them every minute of the day. And there are legal repercussions to publishing "offensive" material. For me the idea is simply to remove the (hopefully) worst of the crap, before I ban the idiots. And I do fully intend to be banning posters who a...

Congrats Take a look at John's board for the list he's got. It's in SQL form, so it loads in pretty easy. What I've got is a slightly moddified edition of his list, without the index numbers, so I just point the database restore admin tool at the file and it loads the bad word list. I can attach it ...

What I'm trying to do with my word list is two-fold. One, removing the generic offensive words that the company I work for would prefer not to be involved in publishing to the internet. Two, to do something to prevent flamers. Now, obviously the word list is more suitable to a simple bad word list, ...

Got it working. In /db/postgres7.php, under the Query method; // // Query method // function sql_query($query = "", $transaction = false) { // // Remove any pre-existing queries // unset($this->query_result); if( $query != "" ) { $this->num_queries++; $query = preg_replace("/LIMIT ([0-9]+),([ 0-9]+)...

Sorry, no fix from me. But, I'd like to put in my two cents. "Me too!" Seems there a couple of things that aren't so perfect with postgres in 2.0.14, while it works quite happily with MySQL. For example, try running the backup routine, and actually look at what is downloaded. My test/style devel box...

Coolies. Consider your forum posted to. PS, I used to be involved in maintaining a list of bad words and web sites for a 'not-to-be-named' PC web censoring program for kidliwinks, and I've still got at least the word list somewhere. I'll chase it down and post the meaningful bits (ie; take out the e...

Congrats.
MODing should be left to people with too much time, not new borns (which is kinda the opposite).

Community generated Censor word list

I had a look today for a list of 'bad words' for the censor word function for phpBB. It took some searching. Some things of note; hardly anyone on the 'net publish a useful bad word list. Authoritive sources suggest that it is best to categorize 'bad words'. phpBB no longer has anything in the KB (a...

You should probably stuff around with a local PC install for a bit before thinking about MODs. There are some very simple mods, and these are easy enough to install. Most are straightforward and well documented, so no major hassle, but when you start to add more than one mod, they can conflict a bit...

Of course if the hosting server is not properly secured, a mildly educated fellow could upload a script to do just this. Which would require the server to be compromised as far as ftp access is concerned. Ditto goes on direct access to the SQL system, if and only if the server has not been properly ...

Don't worry bout answering that one.
Changed the includes/functions_search.php to trim out most of the regedit stuff.
Worked fine then.

Yeah. I was messing with a development forum to replace a live beast, and I had phpBB2 with attachment MOD, plus a few simple mods of my own, then started adding the mod-CH thing. 8O Anyway, I've discovered that the features are pretty much part of the feature list for phpBB3 (Olympus) and I figure ...

Works good. But I'm getting an issue with long words exceeding the max field size for a search_wordlist (postgres db). Specifically with registry entries having the slashes removed and being entered as one big word. Whatever it is tho, I need to make sure it processes the posts and doesn't stop on i...
