Out of the box OS X is better! More applications bundled out of the box...get everything you need for personal computing! The iLife Suite is MS Office for home computing. Automator...with a click of a single button I can automate all kinds of tasks, without even launching a program! For example, my ...

Re: Windows Vista vs Mac OS X

There are free antivirus programs out there (AVG, Avast, Clamwin anyone?), the 3 common antispyware programs are free (Windows defender, Ad-Aware and Spybot) OK?...Your not wasting time dealing with this than? To me, having to install, update, and manage these programs IS a waste of time. Additiona...

Re: Windows Vista vs Mac OS X

At any rate, the only thing that's putting me off is the price. Yes, the general availability of a mac in general is greater due to the lower cost now, but it still has not come down enough to be widespread. One example is the budget end. I was buying a laptop for my mother a month ago, and was loo...

Re: Windows Vista vs Mac OS X

Did you say "boots up fast on any computer". Since when did Mac OSX start running on PC boxes? Do you know more than the rest of us? Mark You now can easily hack OSX to run natively on any x86 machine. Here is a little article that has links showing how to accomplish this. Of course this goes again...

Spamming by User - "zvy1979"

I have my first spammer! :-\ Had a user sign up, and on the recommendation of a Mod started Googling the usernames and emails of suspisious users. Found that user zvy1979 has several spam related registrations on many phpBB boards. The registrations are exactly the same (even the same misspelled wor...

Shadow/Duplicate Topics

The ability to move and shadow topics as admin or moderator would be great! What I personally wanted this feature for is to create a "Featured Articles" catagory that has loose permissions. The rest of the catagories would have Private permissions. One should be able to shadow topics so they can be ...

BUMP!

Apparently the modification of the emailer.php file is screwing with the activation link in a users activation email. Take a look: http://www.handymanxchange.com/profile.php?mode=activate=14_key=f81ac7f90c58 It should look like this: http://www.handymanxchange.com/profile.php?mode=activate&u=14&act...

Some problems for Knowledgebase mod with phpBB 2.0.20

Noticed that the latest release of phpBB 2.0.20 has changed the way it deals with HTML tags in posts. As the code suggests, it aggressively changes the post contents if it contains un approved tags #-----[ OPEN ]--------------------------------------------- # includes/functions_post.php # #-----[ FI...

Start a new <div> under the banner in overall_header.tpl, end it somewhere in overall_footer.tpl and give it some padding. Should work :) Was just going to ask if this could be done! It just dawned on me that the overall_header.tpl is the START of the HTML and the overall_footer.tpl is the end of t...

Set padding and margin to 0 on the .body class. The forum tables will go to the edge as well, so pad them separately. I figured this out while away from this post, but it seems like an awful lot of work to add padding to the remaining tables with a different class, and then changing all the classes...

Why header won't fill browser window?

I have a custom overall header, and I can't fiqure something out. The main banner at the top I want to go all the way to the left and right edge of the browser. I've tried everything to do this (width=100% cellpadding,spacing,borders=0) and I've checked all the CSS to see whats causing this, but to ...

I would want the directory to be automatically created when the user registers, named after the user, unbeknownst to them. This directory can only house certain picture files (only allow extentions like .jpg/.png/.gif with .htaccess).

I know it wouldn't be 100%. Would you think this is safe enough?
