Re: PHPBB 3.3 Compatible with MariaDB 10.5

Yes but may require a fix if you are using custom profile fields of type "Number" that are optional.

Re: phpBB 3.3.1 SQL error when editing profile with optional custom profile field

Edit: I misunderstood this->request->is_set, now just using isset for checking non-NULL. Works in my testing, emojis are fine and empty number fields work. Edit2: A cleaner way would be to only run the UTF-8 encode on strings. Comments please. Okay, I think I have it. Comments on whether this is oka...

Re: phpBB 3.3.1 SQL error when editing profile with optional custom profile field

Reading a little further, this should arguably be handled by get_profile_field(). I am not clear why the existing code doesn't return NULL for an empty string. public function get_profile_field($profile_row) { $var_name = 'pf_' . $profile_row['field_ident']; if ($this->request->is_set($var_name) &am...

Re: phpBB 3.3.1 SQL error when editing profile with optional custom profile field

Edit: Please see further down, solution amended. I have a solution. Please advise whether this looks right, and I should submit as a PR. In order to avoid SQL warning on an empty string: Don't submit an empty string, submit NULL for an empty int field. If there's a better way to check for field type...

phpBB 3.3.1 SQL error when editing profile with optional custom profile field

Assume a custom profile field "count", set to field type "Numbers" and neither displayed on registration screen nor required. On phpBB 3.3.1 with MariaDB, attempting to save the profile gets a SQL error. Is this specific to MariaDB, or a general issue with how the field is config...

Re: [3.2][RC] Registration Age

Brilliant extension, this is saving us so much grief!

We intend to move to phpBB 3.3 in May. Can you update the extension to officially support that version?

Re: phpbb 3.3 not run in PHP 7.2.27

Right-on with "replace files and update DB", that seems like the sanest way to go. Just putting this here for consideration - the phpBB 3.2 EOM and Ubuntu 20.04 LTS release date are within weeks of each other. One could, assuming an Ubuntu phpBB install: - Wait until at least April 23rd, w...

Re: [DEV] Post Love

Mystery solved: Upgrade to 2.0.0a2 sets the "Hide Like icons and summaries" option on every profile of every existing user. Newly created users don't have the issue. For affected boards, your users can uncheck that manually. Maybe someone wants to dig into the DB and present a script on do...

Re: Discuss: phpBB 3.2.7 Release

3.2.4 to 3.2.7 using the Automatic Update package, no dice. Get an error 500 when browsing to install/app.php. The apache2 error log points to an issue with a missing class in the vendor directory: [Mon Aug 05 13:12:09.831276 2019] [php7:error] [pid 2075] [client 73.149.55.243:53769] PHP Fatal error...

Re: not possible to use any up-to-date PHP 7 version - missing module?

Define “not too expensive”? OVH is 3.34/month. Linode and DigitalOcean are both 5/month. There are transfer limits but I think they’re in the TB range. There are storage limits, 20-30 GB depending on which of these you choose. Unless your forum is massive, any of these options will work fine. I’d st...

Replace "Total Users" with "Active Users"

For 3.2.2, here's how to replace the "Total Users" count on the front page with "Active Users". This goes back one month to count a user as "active"; set your own period as appropriate for your board. Back up and then edit phpBB/index.php: Find // Assign index specific ...

Re: [3.2][BETA] Emojis

Brilliant! It works well and does not conflict with simple mentions. I have a change / enhancement request. Right now, the list of emojis is below the edit window. On a 1080p monitor, it's thus just off the edge, and won't be seen by the user immediately. Request: Have the list of emojis display jus...
